On June 14, 2010, the Departments of Labor, Treasury and Health and Human Services released for public inspection the interim final rules on grandfather status under the "Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act." The rules include the general definition of a grandfathered health plan; plan changes causing cessation in grandfather status; how the rules apply to collectively bargained plans; disclosure and documentation requirements; and more. The three agencies (Labor, Treasury, HHS) have released interim final rules on lifetime and annual limits, preexisting condition exclusions and other patient protections.
