High Spirits: Compass Box Whisky Company Edinburgh, Scotland
Asyla Malt & Grain Blended Scotch Whisky
The ultimate "everyday," "before dinner" or "Sunday afternoon" Scotch whisky.
The secret to making Asyla is the quality of the casks. We use only whiskiesaged in first-fill American oak casks because these yield whiskies with more vanilla character, more richness and more sweetness than refill casks. There is no other blended Scotch whisky on the market that uses whiskies of this quality. Also, there are few blended that use 50% malt whisky as they do (all unpeated malt whiskies). The result is a carefullycrafted, elegant Scotch whisky that makes the perfect aperitif. |
BEST BEERS:SUMMER is fading, time to drink up!
Summer is fading and in the beer world we're gearing up for Fall. While there's still some great Summer brews available, time and supply are short. It's time to drink up!
ARCADIA WHITSUN Prominent aromas of
sweet and citrusy fruits, orange peel, vanilla
and a hint of coriander. There is some honey too that rounds out the
concoction of flavors. Although heavier in the sweet profile, you can
still make out some of the wheat that makes this a Wheat beer.
The taste was very sweet and fruity, following the nose. The sweetness
not only comes from the fruits and honey, but the caramel
malts, too. They shine through the fruit and wheat, and accent the
beer really well. There was little hoppyness to the Whitsun with
balanced but mild carbonation on a medium body.
BOULDER COLD HOP A
marriage of the best in American and Belgian brewing traditions.
Belgian pilsner malt, a generous amount of American and European hops
and a unique Belgian yeast strain combine to give Belgica big notes of
citrus and spice, creating a lively concoction perfect for spring in
the Rockies - or the Ardennes. 7.2% ABV
PYRAMID CURVE BALL The deceptively drinkable golden summer seasonal is a crisp,
clean-tasting, cold lagered ale. Exemplifying the blonde ale style,
Curve Ball pours a beautiful bright golden hue and offers the balanced,
refreshing taste perfect for accompanying summer adventures. Curve Ball
delivers a clean, refined malt body, ideal for pairing with timeless
summertime treats and BBQ traditions. Accentuated with subtle herbal and
spicy characteristics, thanks to Vanguard and Perle hops, this seasonal
offering finishes dry and crisp.
ARCADIA SKY HIGH RYE In honor of their adventurous friends at Sky Dive Inc. in Hastings,
Michigan, we crafted a truly adventurous brew in Sky High Rye. A West
Coast-style Pale Ale with rye malt, Sky High Rye boasts a massive floral
aroma of resinous hops. The hops contribute flavor notes of lemons,
peaches, and pine needles, combined with the sweet, malty flavors of
toffee and bread. Rye adds a pleasant peppery, spicy note like a fresh
slice of pumpernickel bread. Very well-rounded and very drinkable, Sky
High Rye will surely inspire adventure in all who taste it.

An Original from Door County, Wisconsin: DEATH'S DOOR VODKA & GIN
All crops and ingredients that go into Death's Door Spirits are herbicide and pesticide free, sustainably grown on Washington Island, Wisconsin or sourced as locally as possible. The bottom line at Death's Door Spirits is sharing the beauty and the bounty of a place-rich with history and unique in setting-through the simple pleasures of food and drink.
Gin Death's Door Distilled Gin, our small-batch gin, combines local juniper berries and botanicals to bring you layers of taste. The experience begins with a bright juniper bouquet followed by a mild middle note of coriander and cinched with the crisp, clean finish of fennel. Our wild juniper berries are hand harvested from the open fields and forests of Washington Island and captured in this spirit with other Wisconsin botanicals.
Vodka
Death's Door Vodka is a locally grown,small-batch vodka that combines unique wheat with crisp, pure water to provide a
sweet, wheaty bouquet, tasteful middle notes and a clean finish for your palate. Getting this
particular wheat isn't easy - it's grown in only one place: Washington Island. Here, ships must safely charter our precious grain to the
mainland through the respectably deep currents and counter-currents of Death's Door Passage, the historic waterway where Lake Michigan and Green Bay meet.

Corpse Reviver
Every summer, North Shore Distillery releases a seasonal, limited-edition spirit. Sometimes it's an absinthe; sometimes it's a rhubarb-ginger spirit. This time, it's a corpse. CR2 is a Corpse Reviver in a bottle, a drink you simply open, shake and serve. The spirit is based on the Corpse Reviver # 2, which is equal parts gin,
Cointreau, Lillet Blanc and lemon juice, with a dash of absinthe.
Instead of simply mixing a big batch of these ingredients, North Shore
instead made a spirit with the Corpse Reviver's flavor profiles. They
used the herbs used in gin, Lillet, absinthe, etc, and, at the end,
added some wine and a little bit of sugar. The result is a cocktail you'll want to drink the
traditional way: Up, in a cocktail glass, with a cocktail cherry.
