DECLARE INDEPENDENCE!

This week is the annual American Craft Beer Week (May 17 - 23), a national celebration highlighting the culture and contributions of craft beer.

America's small and independent craft brewers want the week to inspire beer enthusiasts to declare their independence by supporting breweries that produce fewer than 2 million barrels of beer a year and are independently owned. In the works are special brewery tours, beer and food pairing events, special release craft beers and festivals all across the U.S. The Declaration of Beer Independence is available on the program web site and the American Craft Beer Week fan page on Facebook, which has more than 7,000 fans thus far.

Changed to a week long event in 2006, the inaugural American Craft Beer Week was recognized by the U.S. Congress with House Resolution 753. The week has continued to grow with interest and support from beer enthusiasts and the media.

Special Feature
BOCELLI Poggioncino 2006, Tuscany, Italy
Famed Tenor Andrea Bocelli along with brother Alberto and top Enologist Paolo Caciorgna produce this classic Tuscan blend of 60% Sangiovese, 20% Canaiolo, 10% Colorino and 10% Malvasia Bianca. The Bocelli Estate in Lajatico has been producing wine for over 300 years. Very limited as only a few hundred cases are made.
The end product is a delicious Tuscan with notes of earthiness, sweet spice, anise, cinnamon in a medium bodied frame. This wine is reminiscent of a very good Chianti Classico.
2 ounce  $5.75    5 ounce $11.25

Show Me, I'm from Missouri:
Cathedral Brewing

Belgian-style White
A complex and refreshing, traditional white ale faithful to the Belgian style with its light body, cloudy color and touch of spice.

Belgian-style Abbey
A traditional style Belgian Abbey-style brewed using five hops, two malts and authentic Trappist Belgian yeast.

Iglesia Agave Ale
An unconventional ale brewed with three malts, two hops and genuine imported Agave honey. Igelsia is Spanish for church and this ale is blessed from barrel to bottle to create a fiesta anytime.

There are some awesome beers being brewed in St. Louis by many local breweries and Cathedral's proud to be apart of that.

Now available as part of Sun Singer's retail beer selection. We'll even chill one for you to drink in the Cafe!

Gourmandaise
with Walnuts

from France
Made from cow's milk, this spreadable processed cheese is a unique blend of aged cheeses (Gruyere and Cheddar), and cream, with a hint of added flavors. One type is flavored with walnut and is excellent with pears and other winter fruits, or even accompanied by blue cheeses. The other type is infused with kirsch, the clear brandy distilled from cherries and their pits and used in making fondue, and black forest cake. Gourmandise varieties are most commonly served as dessert cheese; a true delicacy especially when served with dessert wines like Sherry or Port or well chilled champagne.
