THE RACE IS ON!
What a great weekend of races with the 2nd Annual Illinois Marathon with a field of 14,000 and the 136th Kentucky Derby affectionately known as the Run for the Rose and the most exciting two minutes in sports history!  With Derby pre-race coverage beginning at 4:00pm and post time at 5:15, the majority of today's marathoners will be able to join us for this second most important race of the day. Classic Derby Day drinks - Mint Juleps and the Crown of Roses - will be featured throughout the day.  Be sure to join us for the race.

CINCO de MAYO  May 5th
Next Wednesday, May 5th won't you us join in the celebration of Mexican Independence Day.  While we'll use almost any excuse for a party, Cinco de Mayo is our yearly opportunity to offer freshly made, hand shaped Chicken Tamales with Mole Sauce and Monterey Jack as our daily special.  We'll also be featuring our famous Sun Singer 'Sun-Gria' - Blanco or Rojo - as the perfect compliment to our Tamale Special.  We honestly can think of 100 or more reasons to join us next Wednesday, but if you need an excuse - it's Cinco de Mayo!

To Your Health,

Mark, Jackie & the Sun Singer Staff

Special Feature: Pinot Noir
CAPIAUX Pinot Noir 'Freestone Hill' 2006
Russian River Valley, California
Good bright dark red. Highly aromatic nose combines raspberry, wet stone, Asian spices and smoked meat; this, too, reminded me of a Chambolle, but on the Morey side of the appellation. Big, rich, dense and sweet, with a pliant, silky, seamless texture and a lovely light touch. Finishes with firm but fine tannins and lingering spice. 93 points   ~Stephen Tanzer
2 ounce  $6.25    5 ounce $12.50

By-the-Glass
WHITE
Ordonez 'Botani' Moscatel Seco '08, Malaqa, Spain
100% Moscatel de Alejandria fermented 70% in stainless steel and 30% in French oak. It has an alluring perfume of spring flowers, honey, spice box, and tropical fruits. Smooth-textured, ripe, dry, and mouth-filling.
2 ounce $3.50  5 ounce $7.25

Orsolani Erbaluce La Rustia '08, Langhe, Italy
Delicate hints of wildflowers and honey in the bouquet (evocative of the great dry Chenin Blancs of the Loire) make this rare, dry white truly distinctive and memorable among Italy's white wines.
2 ounce$4.00   5 ounce $8.00

PRETTY in PINK
Ken Forrester Rose '08, Stellenbosch, South Africa

Overwhelms the nose with a magnitude of strawberry, rose petal and cherry aromas that follow through on the palate, lingering to a crisp and refreshingly delicate finish.
2 ounce  $2.00   5 ounce $4.75

REDS
Ch. Comte de Vaugelas St. Chinian '07, Languedoc, France
Grenache, syrah and mouvedre blend. Aromas of red and
black fruits, spices and licorice. Good tannin structure,
supple with strong aromatic persistence.
2 ounce $2.25   5 ounces $4.75

Rodolfo Malbec '07, Cafayate Valley, Argentina
Intense red color with violet undertones. Very fruity on the nose with hints of plums, peppers and spices. Good volume in the mouth,
well structured with a finely balanced finish.
2 ounce  $2.50   5 ounce $5.25

Vinos Pinol 'Ludovicus' '08, Terra Alta, Spain
A blend of 35% Garnacha, 30% Tempranillo, 25% Syrah, and
10% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for three months in French and American oak. It has a glass-coating deep crimson hue with an expressive nose of cherry, blueberry, and blackberry. Mouth-filling and succulent.
2 ounce  $2.75   5 ounce $5.50

Deerfield Merlot Cuvée '06, Sonoma, California
75% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec,
3% Petit Verdot and 2% Syrah. Cuvée means "wine blend" in French The blend brings Merlot extra depth, nuance and complexity without interfering with the fruity aromatic personality we like so much. The supporting cast makes the star shine.
2 ounce $4.25   5 ounces $8.50

Spectator Top 100...again
Seghesio 'Sonoma' Zinfandel '08, California
Vibrant display of acidity enhances the briary raspberry and blackberry varietal expression. Lush, velvety mouth feel interwoven with fine, integrated tannins and spicy undertones creates a smooth richness.
2 ounce $4.25   5 ounces $8.75

Share the Mystery?
Stratton Lummis Cabernet Sauvignon '05, Napa Valley, California

From the heart of the Napa Valley-aan unnamed blend of Oakville and Rutherford. Big nose of blackberry fruit and cassis with broad, sweet, classic flavors here of blackcurrant with a little spice, dust and supple tannins. Forward, juicy and full of character.
2 ounce  $4.50   5 ounce $9.00
A Vodka Purely Fit for Kings
Krol Vodka
Exceptionally pure, luxuriously smooth and clearly superior, Kröl Vodka has arrived on U.S. shores.   From the Polish word for "king," Kröl is truly a regal addition to any bar.  The brand recently made its debut at the Sundance Film Festival, where it was sipped in specialty cocktails by festivalgoers including Terrence Howard, Jessica Biel, and Wilmer Valderrama. Kröl is made in Poland - the birthplace of vodka - from 100% pure Polish rye grain grown to the exacting standards of the Kröl family, whose family recipe has remained a well-guarded secret over many generations.   The purest vodka on the market demands that the fields of sweet, late harvest rye remain untreated and as pristine as the pure Polish mountain spring water with which they are distilled.

Combining tradition and expertise with today's best distillation methods, Kröl is distilled four times to eliminate all impurities and to capture nuances of flavor unique to the spirit.  Kröl is then filtered six times until it is sheer, smooth perfection on the palate.

A favorite of the Polish aristocracy since the early 1820's, Kröl Vodka halted production during World War II.  Recently, the family resumed its tradition of producing this vodka of unparalleled taste, texture, and above all, purity (it contains absolutely no additives or preservatives.)
Kröl is instantly recognizable in its elegant frosted glass bottle featuring a silhouette of "the king" himself in its window.  With accents of midnight blue and platinum leaf scrolling, the bottle is a work of art worthy of its contents.

Cheddar
The origin of cheddar comes from 'cheddaring', a cheese making method that originated in the village of Cheddar in Somerset, England during the 12th Century. Cheddar cheese making was introduced to Australia by the early settlers. Today, it is the most popular cheese in the country.
King Island Dairy Stokes Point Smoked Cheddar is naturally smoked with Tasmanian hardwood. Matured for nine months, the golden rind created during smoking acts as a natural preservative.
Stokes Point is the most southern tip of the island and the closest point to north western Tasmania.

Two Summer
Lagers

READY TO DRINK NOW

Two Brothers Brewing

Dog Days
Dortmunder Style  Lager
Dog Days is Two Brothers warm weather beer and the only lager they produce.
This golden lager is a German style
Dortmunder with a delicate caramel malt character and light body. Dog Days has a noticeable noble hop character creating a crisp, clean finish.

Boulevard Brewing

PILSNER
Boulevard pays homage to the legacy of past Kansas City breweries with a classic American lager; 100% malt, real hop character, unpasteurized. It's the taste of tradition.

Crisp, slightly malty aroma and a pale, golden hue. Light body, even balance and a mild hop bitterness make Pilsner a very refreshing, quaffable beer.
