A celebration of food and wine, Pinot Days San Francisco, will begin June 24th and run through June 28th. This four day event is a mixture of blind and thematic wine tastings, food pairings and educational conversations with the wine makers. Pinot Days was founded by the Bay Area Wine Project in order to advance the profile of Pinot Noir by celebrating its wine makers, vineyards, fruit and enthusiasts.

A Fun Twist On A Summer Classic
This summer we channel our inner child remembering a favorite summertime treat. Recognizing that wine should be fun, we invite you to try our Wine Slushies. They are the perfect frozen drink for a hot summer day!
Slush or slushie is a generic term for a flavored frozen drink. In general, slush drinks are made by freezing a sugared liquid while constantly stirring it. The sugar and motion prevent the formation of large ice crystals, while the overrun process mixes in air, creating a smooth slush.
Slushies have been around for much longer than you might think. The Chinese are generally credited for creating flavoured iced drinks, possibly as early as 3000 BC - that's 5000 years ago!
It is recorded that Alexander the Great loved slushies, over 2300 years ago! He had trenches filled with snow so that he and his soldiers could have a supply of slush to mix with fruity flavours, whenever they fancied - makes you wonder if they had a name for a Brain Freeze!
The famous Italian explorer and trader, Marco Polo, is said to have brought new recipes of fruit-flavored, slushies back to Italy from his travels in China, in the fourteenth century. Certainly, Italians became the undisputed masters of the art of the slushie - or granita, as it is usually called there.
We serve our slushies with two of our more popular sweeter wines:
ELECTRA Orange Muscat
Golden orange color with a honeyed nose of peach with a trace of flowers. Delicately sweet, refreshingly crisp, with the taste of melon, marmalade and apricot flavors.
ELECTRA Black Muscat
Beautiful red-purple color with a grapy sweet taste and flavors of cherry, pomegranates with a raspberry tang. It has cinnamon notes that give it a character almost like a mild sangria.
You can enjoy the slushies on our patio and in our cafe, or you can purchase the ingredients here & we'll give you the directions so you can make this at home to enjoy with your friends.

Wine 102: Wine Evaluation & Terminology

Do you read tasting notes and wonder how they can be so specific? Do you want to be able to put into words what you taste? If so, this seminar is for you! Join us at Sun Singer as we continue to de-mystify the world of wine. Wine 102 will show you the tasting process and help you develop a style of wine talk.
We'll expand on the basic wine terminology and flavor components of wine taught in Wine 101. We will discuss how wines are rated and explain several systems. There will be handouts on a wine rating system and a listing of wine words. The final part of the seminar will focus on developing your own personal wine language.
We strongly suggest that you have previously attended Sun Singer's Wine 101. Wine 102 will assume a basic knowledge of wine varietals, their characteristics and basic tasting technique.
