Sun Singer News

In Brief

Worth a Thousand Words
These pictures tell it all! The weather was so fantastic this past weekend  that we had to put out the patio tables - and we had a number of takers as you can see.  Some weeks might pass before the tables go out again, but that brief celebration keeps our spirits high for Spring to come.  In the  meantime,  join us on our interior palazzo as we count down the days to warmer weather.

Smiling Faces
We're seeing alot of tan faces at Sun Singer these days. It's always great to get a slice of the story that goes along with the tan.  This past week most people have been returning from somewhere special in Florida. While we've heard that even Florida has had a chill in the air this winter,  the tales coming in to us tell of get days on the beach and the golf course and the great relief to break away to the sun for a week or more. If you're one of those smiling - and tan - faces that have been back to Sun Singer last week, well, you can be a bit smug and we don't mind - much! We're glad to have you back.

Looking Ahead
Another first this month with be the next in the series of Wine  classes engineered and presented by Brian Bowman.  This month Brian is  introducing Wine 103: Paring Wine with Food. This class is Brian's  next logical  step in our series of wine education and enjoyment.  Combining the  knowledge from Wine 101 and Wine 102, Wine 103 will provide the  concepts and experience important to the understanding of successfully  pairing wine with food. Read more below, but better yet, call the shop  to make your reservations now.  You'll be able to say 'I was there first!'

Meatless Options for Lent

Last Friday was the first Friday during the season of Lent.  I fielded a question from one of our regular guests regarding what meatless dining options we offer on the menu.  The thought occurs - how many of you have the same question?

So, for our friends who are fasting from meat on Fridays during this season of Lent we wanted to spotlight several of our meatless menu items.

 Crab Cakes
CrabCakes
Made from scratch and served over black bean salsa with a mango glaze.

Salmon Cakes
Made from scratch and served over mixed greens with an herbed vinaigrette.

3 Cheese Ravioli
Ravioli stuffed with 3 Italian cheeses, breaded and baked. Served with marinara.

Grilled Cheese Supreme
Danish Fontina and Fiscalini cheddar cheeses, granny smith apples and fig jam on Challah bread

These are just a few of the more popular non-meat items on our menu.  The majority of our wonderful salads are also meatless or can be made so.  Find the entire menu here on our website.

Wine 103: Pairing Wine with Food
Sunday, March 22nd
4:00 - 6:00pm
Our Price: $30/person

These days you're more likely to hear food and wine pairing suggestions than hard and fast rules. There's considerable room for experimentation and expression of your own personality in pairing food and wine. A basic understanding of the food, the wine and how the components and flavors in each interact can make it easy to find a successful pairing on a daily basis, and can greatly increase the chances of finding an exciting synergy between wine and food.

Food and wine pairing is a highly subjective and inexact process. The old rules - primarily red wine with red meat and white wine with fish and poultry - don't take into consideration the complexity of today's multi-ethnic and subtly flavored foods and the corresponding wide range of wines from around the world that are now conveniently available to almost everyone.
