Sundays are Sparkling! Sunday Bubbles Bar & Extended Sunday Cafe Hours
Wines with bubbles are associated, for many people, primarily with festivities, celebrations and the elite. Modern production techniques have brought sparkling wines to market that are more affordable and accessible for everyday enjoyment.
At Sun Singer we want to show that bubbles can be enjoyed anytime - an intimate celebration, a festive party, or a casual time with good friends - every time. We invite you to come in and enjoy bubbles for $3, quiche from Pekara Bakehouse and so much more!
Extended Sunday Hours 11:00am - 9:00pm Let's
face it, there just aren't enough hours in a day and Sun Singer is doing something about it! We decided to add a few more. Beginning Sunday, January 18th we wanted to make certain that there are enough hours in our Sunday schedule to
enjoy more of the good times at Sun Singer. Now
we'll be open earlier for lunch, or brunch if you like, plus you'll
have plenty of time for a leisurely dinner - a pleasant way to end
the week or to start a new one. Add a few hours to your weekend as we all
measure the days looking forward to Spring.

Grape Expectations: Save $7 after 8:00pm Monday - Saturday after 8:00pm through March 31, 2009
Everyone is due a little relief these days and to this end Sun Singer's CORKAGE
FREE NIGHTS have already begun, but everyone is asking what is 'Corkage' anyway. From extensive research, just kidding, here's the best explanation we've found:
This service (corkage) was conceived and adopted by restaurateurs as a courtesy
to guests who wanted to enjoy a special, rare, or sentimental value
wine with their dinner. Such as a special vintage bottle lovingly
carried over from your last voyage to Napa Valley or France. Or the
wine from the same vineyard that catered to your wedding party that you
want to enjoy over your 20th anniversary dinner. Or something otherwise
remarkable that the restaurant does not carry on its wine list.
At Sun Singer the 'corkage fee' is not a service fee for opening and serving the bottle and we encourage you to consider the price of any bottle you order in the overall gratuity for your server, but instead it is a parity fee to help cover the costs of offering the uniquely pleasant surroundings in which you and your friends may enjoy your wine and our many other fine offerings! Mark-ups on our wine are modest in comparison to most restaurants and to let you in on a little secret - at Sun Singer your very best value is to buy a bottle whether it's $15 or $50 and pay the $7 parity. We ask to consider our argument and we certainly invite any questions you may have on the subject.
Even More Importantly - We invite you to join us Monday -
Saturday after 8:00pm through the end of March and save the $7 fee on any of the 1200+ bottles from our retail selection you
choose to drink in the Cafe with the purchase of an appetizer, sandwich or dessert. Sun Singer has grape expectations for 2009 and we wanted a way to say thanks to all of you who have spent many memorable hours
relaxing with us. Come in and start saving soon!

Wine 102: Wine Evaluation & Terminology
Tuesday, January 27th 7:00 - 9:00pm Our Price: $20/person
Do you read tasting notes and wonder how they can be so specific? Do you want to be able to put into words what you taste? If so, this seminar is for you! Join us at Sun Singer as we continue to de-mystify the world of wine. Wine 102 will show you the tasting process and help you develop a style of wine talk.
We'll expand on the basic wine terminology and flavor components of wine taught in Wine 101. We will discuss how wines are rated and explain several systems. There will be handouts on a wine rating system and a listing of wine words. The final part of the seminar will focus on developing your own personal wine language.
We strongly suggest that you have previously attended Sun Singer's Wine 101. Wine 102 will assume a basic knowledge of wine varietals, their characteristics and basic tasting technique.
Learn more about our seminars here. Sign up today by calling Sun Singer at 351-1115.

Port is a fortified wine from the remote vineyards in Portugal's Douro Valley, where time has almost stood still. You will not find the latest wine making techniques and fancy equipment. Instead, you will find a wine industry much the way it was over a hundred years ago. Join Sun Singer as we discuss & taste the history and various styles of the great fortified wines of Portugal.
Sign up today by calling Sun Singer at 351-1115.

Illinois Toasts the 44th

OWL CREEK VINEYARD Cobden, Illinois 2007 ChardonOwl 2004 Reserve
Today in our nation's capital the historic inauguration of President Barack Obama, will be celebrated with two of Illinois' best wines from Owl Creek Vineyard.
Inaugural celebrants can relax over a glass of Owl Creek's '04 Reserve or '07 ChardonOwl. The Reserve is a big, warm, balanced dry red made from Chambourcin and Norton aged in 3-5 year old barrels for two years. ChardonOwl is a barrel-fermented dry Chardonel that features grapefruit and lemon with a light oak character.
Why not pick up both of these distinct Illinois wines and raise your glass in celebration!
