Sun Singer News
In Brief
How often will we be reminded - just 23 days left until
Christmas! While we could lament how quickly the year has gone, there is no
time for delay with Time's winged chariot hurrying near. Sun Singer has one simple goal for the month
of December - we want to make your
necessary shopping fruitful and expeditious as it should be so
that we may take the time to share the
warmth and celebration of the season with family and friends alike.
When
you're looking for all those tempting treats for the wine - spirit and beer -
lovers in your life, you'll want to come and browse our shelves. We've always
thought of Sun Singer as our own adult candy store and never so much so as
during the holiday season. We guarantee to brighten your eyes with our holiday
treasures on each of you visits. During the next few weeks in the newsletter,
we'll try our best to highlight those items sure to delight those on your gift-giving
lists, but it will be simply impossible to do justice to the selection
available.
Come
by and see us soon and see us often this season. You'll rarely fail to bump into someone you
know. Remember that the Sun Singer Café
is also a great place to wind up and wind down your celebrations or just
recharge. Enjoy the foods and wines to
which you've grown accustomed and then visit our Gourmet Deli and fill your
pantry with treats for your holiday parties.
We look forward to seeing you and taking the opportunity to share all
the best that the season has to offer.
Happy Holidays!

Wine 101: An Introduction
Tuesday, December 9th 7:00 - 9:00pm Our Price: $20/person
Do you read Wine for Dummies late at night off in a dark corner? Do you want to try Merlot, but you're afraid to ask? If so, this seminar is for you! Join us at Sun Singer as we de-mystify the world of wine. Wine 101 will introduce you to the everyday pleasures of wine.
We'll be covering basic wine varieties and their characteristics, along with how to taste and talk about wine. We'll cover some of the basic wine terminology and flavor components of wine. We'll also talk about 'when wine goes bad.' After this introduction you'll feel more comfortable with the 'language' of wine, ordering wine in a restaurant and how to explain what you want from a wine when choosing one in the store. With any luck you'll be on the road to a lifetime of enjoyment in a world of wine!

Serving Local Breads
Ruzica Cuk (Seka to her friends) at Pekara has been serving Champaign wonderful breads since January 2005. Pekara is a traditional European bakery, featuring made-from-scratch breads with no preservatives or artificial flavorings. We are happy to announce that several of our sandwiches feature these wonderful breads, and you can take home a loaf as well.
Bread Descriptions
Baguettes - the classic crusty French Bread. It is an aromatic bread that goes quite well with cheeses and wines.
Ciabatta - a light and airy italian bread with a crusty outer crust that is excellent for our gourmet sandwiches.
Multi-Grain - a less sweet, heartier version of our honey wheat bread.
Vienna - a crusty white bread that is great for sandwiches and makes an even better garlic bread.
