About Ron Spears
A native of New York, Ron has lived in Chicago since 1984.He holds
a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Maryland. He discovered
the world of importing wine and now owns Grape News Importing,
dedicated to the wines of France. Ron has been teaching these courses
at the Federation of Alliances Françaises USA for two years.

Wine 101: An Introduction

Do you read Wine for Dummies late at night off in a dark corner? Do you want to try Merlot, but you're afraid to ask? If so, this seminar is for you! Join us at Sun Singer as we de-mystify the world of wine. Wine 101 will introduce you to the everyday pleasures of wine.
We'll be covering basic wine varieties and their characteristics, along with how to taste and talk about wine. We'll cover some of the basic wine terminology and flavor components of wine. We'll also talk about 'when wine goes bad.' After this introduction you'll feel more comfortable with the 'language' of wine, ordering wine in a restaurant and how to explain what you want from a wine when choosing one in the store. With any luck you'll be on the road to a lifetime of enjoyment in a world of wine!
