Ah, October! Time feels different in October. Summer isn't completely over, winter is a distant thought. Nature is caught in between-can't go back, can't go forward. Suspended.
That's exactly how Jorie King feels in my new novel, The Waiting. She's been waiting for Ben Zook to return home so they can pick up where they left off-to marry and settle into their Amish community. And Ben does come back! But not in the way Jorie had expected.
