Interview with the Dangs
Tim & Julie Dang, Field Coordinator in Malaysia

Editor's note:  I had the privilege of conversing with Julia Dang recently (via email, Skype, and even old fashioned telephone), and here are some of the comments she shared with me.  The Dang's commitment to doing the work of the Lord and to seeking his guidance every day is so beautiful.

Here is a summary of that interview:

Q:  Where has God called you to work now?How long have you been there?

A:  God called us to work with the Vietnamese people in Vietnam & Malaysia, and we have been in Malaysia as a base for two and a half years.

Q:  Describe the people and places you serve.

A:  We are reaching out to the Vietnamese workers that work in Malaysia, and sometimes we also take teams into Vietnam (like the medical missions team we took recently).  Poverty and health issues are severe in many areas in Vietnam, and for the Vietnamese people in Malaysia.

Q:  Tell me more about your recent medical mission team?

A:  The purpose of medical trip was to reach out to the communities that need help.  We hope that our outreach will help the local church to have a voice in its community and with the local government, hoping that the church can build a relationship with the community and that the church will be known by the people in the community.  We try to evaluate the needs of the people in the communities we serve, and we try very hard to show them God's love.  We often are able to show them how to do things in more efficient ways and how to help themselves.  On the recent medical trip, we were able to help many people in those communities, and were able to share with them in their own churches.

Q:  In what ways do you see the presence of a medical missions team in your area furthering the Kingdom?

A:  We try to work with the local pastors and churches.  When we take a medical (or other) team to their area, the presence of the team opens doors for the local church, allowing them to reach out to the people with a focus on evangelism.

Q:  Other comments or thoughts...

A:  Our medical team members really enjoyed the mission trip.

Editor's note: Here is a wonderful video of the recent short-term medical mission team trip, put together by Julia, and set to music by her ("You Are Awesome in this Place, Mighty God").
