           Be Sun Smart®
AAD logo*Generously apply a broad-spectrum (which provides protection from ultraviolet A and ultraviolet B rays), water-resistant sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 30.
*Reapply approximately every two hours (even on cloudy days) and after swimming or sweating.
*Wear protective clothing such as a long-sleeved shirt, pants, a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses where possible.
*Seek shade when appropriate; remember that the sun's rays are strongest between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
*Use extra caution near water, snow and sand because they reflect the damaging rays of the sun, which can increase your chance of sunburn.

                                      DOH logoAvoiding Ticks

The only way to prevent Lyme and other tick borne disease is to avoid ticks and tick bites.   If you do get bitten, you should remove the tick as soon as possible.
  • Wear long sleeve shirts and pants tucked into socks when outside.
  • Wear light colored clothing to make it easier to spot any ticks that do attach to your clothing.
  • Use tick repellents containing DEET ® when walking through tick infested areas. Repellents containing more than 30% DEET are unnecessary. Never use repellents on infants.
  • Avoid walking through tall grasses or dead leaves where ticks live when outside. Stay on the path.
  • Inspect yourself, others and pets after possible tick exposure.

                         Cumberland Relay for Life

relay for life

On June 11-12 Christine Amaral walked with Team "Nathan's ANGELS" raising $2,840. Nathan is Christine's nephew and at 6 weeks of age he was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma.   While Nathan fights for his cancer free future, "Nathan's ANGELS" walked in his honor so that some day, other children and their parents do not have to experience the horrible disease of cancer.
