"We need a medium to talk with Jim Morrison," said the producer of a show airing on a well known music video station.  I responded with, "Why would Jim Morrison want to talk with me?  Will some of his family members be on the show?   "Does it matter?" she replied.  "Can't you just get him to talk to you?"
Now don't get me wrong.  I would love to talk with Jim, but Jim really doesn't have any reason to talk with me - - unless I'm sitting with someone else with whom he wants to communicate. 

There is a big misconception about mediums and spirit communication.  Many people seem to think that a medium dials up spirits on a cosmic telephone and always get an answer.  But let me ask you something.  How many times have you not answered your phone when you don't recognize the number? 

It is much the same with those in spirit.  They want to talk to those they know.

I've never set out to speak with a celebrity in spirit.  When I've met them, it is because they're responding to the call of those they shared life with on this side.  People who were famous come through like anyone else - - by relationship like mother, father, sister, brother or friend.
Whenever I've spoken to a well known person, I rarely see their faces entirely.  It is almost as though they're leaving their public image behind.  Very often they'll provide personal details that the public wouldn't know.  As with all messages from spirit, details support the efficacy of the communication.

Do celebrities on the other side visit their fans?  Not exactly.  When an icon has come through for someone non-related, it has almost always been regarding a specific project which bears their name like a book or screenplay about their lives.  For instance:  A screen idol from the 50's who visited during a session with a screenwriter showed me the image of a signed photo of another star with whom he shared the screen.  The writer confirmed that he owned a rare photo taken by one star of another and that he was writing a screenplay which featured both actors.  If a sitter is working diligently on a famous person's behalf, either in service to an organization they founded or a cause close to their hearts, that celebrity may come through with a thank you.

Just as our love reaches our friends and family living on the other side, a fan's adoration can touch a star on the other side.  During some communications, celebrities will express gratitude for fans' good thoughts and prayers.  These same stars will also make it clear that these good wishes don't buffer them from experiencing the full impact of choices made while living on our side.

During readings, some celebrities have discussed their personal failures, frustrations, limitations and sometimes, criminal actions.  Like the rest of us, death brings them face to face with themselves. 

Being famous on the earth plane doesn't get you the best table in heaven.  Celebrity brings with it additional responsibility, and the bright lights can reveal even darker shadows. 

Spirits seem to consider celebrity from an entirely different perspective.  Years ago, I had the privilege of being in the presence of a man in spirit who had been hung because of his non-violent stance against apartheid in South Africa.  His death was never in the papers and wasn't known outside his country.  As he spoke with his daughter, the room filled up with spirits standing in silent tribute to this man's dedication to the freedom of his fellow man.  Although not a celebrity here, he seemed well known there. 

If you're a fan of a star recently passed, you can send a loving thought to help them on their way.  If you know a hero who lived and died beyond the spotlights, your love and thanks is mirrored and amplified by those the other side.
