Dear Friends,
Before working as a medium, I was a musician. As many of you already know, the links
between music and mediumship are many and strong. In fact, some of you have taken my workshops
devoted to the subject.
Last Friday night, I was invited to hear some local
musicians play. (Yes, even mediums are
allowed to have fun once in awhile.) I
was delighted to find myself among friends listening to the tight vocals, rhythmic
music and uplifting lyrics of Jayla ( jaylamusic.com), a Los Angeles female duo
with a talented back up band.
This musical event was the kick off for Jayla's "Live to Inspire" tour. Not only did the music
of Jayla touch my heart while making me dance, the title of their tour got me
thinking.
The word "inspire" is defined in a number of ways. My favorite is "to communicate or suggest by
a divine or supernatural influence." I
know from my years of writing music, that I didn't write it alone. There are musicians who go to sleep, wake up
and write a song, not even sure where it has come from.
The communication between those living on the other and the
rest of us living here is constant. Inspired
communication is not just possible for mediums, musicians, writers and others in
the creative arts - - but for all of
us. There will always be people who are
more attuned to the subtle energies of Spirit.
However, these days, the spirits can be pretty unsubtle in getting our attention while using music to do it.
I'm reminded of a mother whose iPod played only Elton John
songs (her daughter's favorites) even though the setting was for random
play. Or the husband who sang, "My Way,"
during a session while his wife agreed that, yes, indeed, he always did it "his
way." Or a daughter who visited a church
for the first time only to hear the organist play her mother's favorite show tunes. What church organist plays "Some Enchanted Evening" and "76 Trombones?"
I'm excited about the possibilities of everyone becoming
more aware of Spirit in their lives.
This is one of the driving forces behind my teaching. At the intensive mediumship development
workshop a couple of weekends ago, newbies and experienced mediums alike discovered new
ways to connect to those on the other side.
And now we'd like to share some of those discoveries with
you. In two upcoming Spirit Extension™ tele-seminars
on Monday, March 30 and April 6, I and several of those who took the workshop, will
be talking about tips and techniques for spirit communication. For more information, go to: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/60546
Our loved ones living on the other side of life, live to
inspire us. They join us in a journey of
shared experiences, and support our ongoing hopes and dreams. We are inspired so that we, too, can inspire
others. And in this way, the dance goes
on and the music never ends.
Share the love of spirit, my friends, and live to inspire.

Have you heard about Mt. Shasta and the Wesak Festival?
Mt. Shasta is located halfway between San Francisco, CA and
Portland, OR and is the second highest volcano in the United States. Although known for its unsurpassed
recreational activities, beautiful vistas and alpine lakes, Mt. Shasta is
considered by the local Native Americans as the place where God lives. After my first visit to Mt. Shasta several
years ago, I agreed that in choosing a home, God had followed the cardinal rule
of real estate - - location, location, location.
I'm honored to be a speaker at the 15th annual Wesak Celebration in Mt. Shasta, CA on May 8-10, 2009. The theme of this year's Wesak Celebration is "Embracing
Unconditional Love." Those of you
reading my newsletter know that my soul's mission is nothing short of sharing
the healing love of spirit. I'm thrilled
to be joining with other practitioners and speakers in a three day expression
of that love.
There is no better person to talk about this upcoming
celebration than Dawn Fazende, editor/publisher of Mt. Shasta Magazine and
producer of Wesak. Dawn agreed to
answer my questions about Wesak, Mt. Shasta, and her love for the sacred
mountain.
Hollister: What
exactly is Wesak and what does the celebration mean to you?
Dawn: Over the past 15 years, Wesak has become a spiritual family reunion.
Lightworkers come from all over the globe to be on this sacred mountain, to
refresh and renew their commitment to evolution and to reconnect with like
minded souls who become their support system for the journey to progress.
The word Wesak relates to four things. First it is a month in the Hindu
calendar. Second it is a physical place. The Wesak Valley is in
the Himalayas, behind Mt. Kailash in Tibet. Sacred pilgrimages have been conducted to
this valley for thousands of years, and are continue to this very day by
Tibetan Buddhists. The devoted meet there and perform sacred ceremonies,
plant prayer flags and
walk in a huge circle around a specific artifact.
Wesak is also considered the time of Buddha's birth,
enlightenment and passing. In some traditions it is believed that this all
occurred at the same moment in time. Much like Christ's story, the actual date
of Buddha's birth is not known, and like Christmas, was celebrated at different times by
different sects of Buddhism. Finally in 1951 the king of Thailand set the date
as the first full moon in May.
In another tradition, Wesak in called the Buddha Full Moon and is the second of
three spring full moons said to have great esoteric
significance. The first moon in
this trilogy is the sun in Aries full moon, the second is the sun in Taurus moon
and the third is the sun in Gemini moon. They are called respectively the Christ Full Moon, The Buddha Full Moon and the Moon of the Humanities. It is
believed that at the time of the Buddha Moon, Christ, Buddha and other ascended
masters meet, perform ceremonies and collectively bless humanity. This is seen
as a coming together of Eastern and Western sacred traditions.
Both traditions agree that Wesak is a time of great spiritual blessings and
downloads. It is a time of year when we are naturally opening ourselves to
growth and renewal of the life force.
Wesak in Mount Shasta is celebrated at the same the time
Buddhists countries around the world are honoring their founder, at the first
full moon in May.
Hollister: What can people hope to experience during the weekend's festivities?
Dawn: Our presenters offer transformational instruction on many levels around a
central theme...which this year is embracing unconditional love as an agent of
change. At a time when we are so open and spirit is pouring information into
us, our presenters - and our consciously selected vendors - offer catalysts for
the continued expansion of our minds and hearts.
Hollister: Tibetan Buddhists, who are building a monastery at Mt. Shasta, call the
mountain "sacred." How do you see this sense of the sacred expressed not
only at the mountain, but at Wesak as well?
Dawn: This mountain exudes its own powerful, Shiva-like energy and causes a sense of
wonder and openness in all of those who attend.
In Mount Shasta we tap into the energies flowing through this mountain into the
planetary grid and dedicate our focus to holding a space for those energies to
manifest into conscious evolutionary change. Attendees come with open minds and
hearts and a sense of spiritual purpose that allows them to carry the energies
beaming to us at this time of year back home to inspire them throughout the
seasonal cycles.
Hollister: What 3 reasons would you give for people to come to Mt. Shasta and Wesak?
Dawn: Come to renew, come to expand, come to grow, and come to meet your spiritual
family.
Hollister: That's actually four reasons, but who's counting!
I'm looking forward to sharing the healing work of mediumship with all those attending the Wesak Celebration in May. For more information about the festival click on the picture below.
