Hi there!
Don't you just love the promise of spring? There have been a few signs here in Honor... Here's my sister's hellebore, blooms in place, ready to pop. Hope you've seen signs of spring where you are too...unless you're in the southern hemisphere. :)

 | Dueling Beach Balls 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 Acrylic on Yupo
|
I've been painting quite a few of these small yupo pieces. (Yupo is a very slick, plastic paper) Synchronicity Gallery in Glen Arbor, MI will be carrying these this tourist season. :) They open in May...just in time for mother's day!

Inspiration to use in your own creative work....
Need some inspiration? Here's another video for you...
I've always been enamored with the printing process... this video explaining monoprinting seems like a good way to get started....
 | Monoprinting with cut paper |
You can use hardware store acrylic or old picture frame glass for your printing plate. The only other things you'd need is a brayer or roller, some cardstock weight paper, one or two colors of printing ink and some printing paper to print on. Sounds like fun, eh? I really want to try it!

2011...What I'm Celebrating... | | Early in January, I chose a word to use as my theme for the year... It's "Celebrate"... Here's a link to the explanation, in case you missed it.
This week, I'm Celebrating: - the snow is almost gone!
- the ice is almost all off the lake!
- the thrill of the promise of warmer weather
- workmen to come and fix a leaky shower.
- another shower in the house to use while the workmen fix the leaky shower.
- having all my annual physical testing back to back to back... a one stop shop!
- friend who received the new kidney is doing well
- watching the house next door go up... I love watching the building process... and the smell of lumber.
- they should be done with the really really noisy bits next door before we have open window weather.
- a friend showing photos of the desert in bloom...never been to AZ...on my bucket list.
- finding a new general physician that I really like
- a makeshift "green house" on the sun porch...getting a jump on the growing season up here.

The Value of VALUES- Acrylic painting Crystal Lake Art Center
Tuesday, April 26 12:30-4:30
$32 members/$42 non-members
Come and unravel the mystery and magic of learning to see tonal value, which is the lightness or darkness of a color. You'll discover why value sketches can be an important part of a successful painting routine. You will complete a full color painting, using a black, white and gray under-painting...setting the value pattern down first. Lauren will supply paper, paint and brushes. If you already have a digital camera with a black and white setting, please bring it to class, but don't worry if you don't, we can share. Please also bring gallon-ish size water container, a pencil, and a black sharpie marker or uni-ball pen.
I'll be teaching "Acrylics 101" at the Crystal Lake Art Center on June 14th, 2011. We'll be elbow deep in paint and techniques...then we'll pull it all together with a painting. Supplies are included... so just come and enjoy a creative play day!
