Heidy ho!
Michigan has decided that it's not REALLY spring... not just yet. We got about 6 inches of snow yesterday...and while pristine, white and beautiful, I'm ready for another color.... like green.
I spent a lot of time last week, adding paintings to the Fine Art America website. You'll find... abstracts, florals, photographs and even some paintings that will make you laugh.
and as a side note...
In my Fine Art America photo, I'm donning my night vision goggles... one of my favorite things to wear. "Do they make me look fat?" :)

This was a tough palette for me to pull off. It appears pretty bright, but there are lots of warm and cool neutrals in there. Phew... it was a mental work-out! Interested in this painting? Click Here.

Inspiration to use in your own creative work....
Need some inspiration? Get outta the studio!
In her book, "The Artist's Way", Julia Cameron suggests a weekly "artist's date". To go on a bit of an adventure, once a week for a few hours...only following your nose.
Even better... get outta town for a bit! We visited the Milwaukee Art Museum last weekend. What an awe inspiring place! Besides having a wonderful collection of art inside (and to the left)... the building itself is a work of art. Spanish architect, Santiago Calatrava and Milwaukee have given us all a gift with this fascinating building. See the "wing things"?.... (Burke Brise Soleil) they actually close and open a couple of times a day... a wondrous site.
I even loved the collection tour pamphlets....
You Think You're Having a Bad Day highlights works that show how tough times were.
Impress the Out-of-Towners the more well known, or exclusive collections
And the one that made me laugh out loud...
Naughty Bits inside it says.."pssst. Feeling naughty? So are we."
I'm not going to tell you what it highlights... you'll have to go and see for yourselves.
But even if you can't go to a different city... Just wandering around your own town, exploring the places that you haven't been, can give you ideas or themes to explore in your work.

2011...What I'm Celebrating... | |
Early in January, I chose a word to use as my theme for the year... It's "Celebrate"... Here's a link to the explanation, in case you missed it.
This week, I'm Celebrating: - friends in Milwaukee...host and hostess with the most-est
- full moon, cloudless sky over lake michigan
- Milwaukee Admirals and Huey Lewis at the same venue on the same night. Hockey then a concert... what's not to like?!
- hugs from son and his girlfriend
- toddlers
- pub food
- family
- home
- 6 inches of snow, and I didn't need to go out in it
- darling nephew Liam...(Frank and Shannon too)
- an awe inspiring look at the "Burke Brise Soleil" going down then up again.... wow.
- opportunities
- March Madness... even if our Spartans aren't in it anymore
- enthusiastic students
