Hi there... Well, here in Honor, we sort of dodged a bullet with that snow storm...
Here's an abandoned bus in Chicago... Cracked me up... Thanks to my son's girlfriend, Cristina for posting this pic on Facebook.
 | read what someone wrote in the snow... heehehe |

Hot Off the Easel!
| | I had a great time with my class at Crystal Lake Art Center. Here's a small demo that I painted near the end of class...
 | class demo | Last night I decided to finish it up... first I covered up some of the scratching that i didn't like...and touched up some of the "quinacridone burnt sienna" underpainting, that had scratched off.
 | a few adjustments... | Then I brightened up the highlights..and added the blue into the cast shadow, and up the left side of the pear. My original thought was to cover up the orange on the "tabletop" ...leaving little bits and pieces of the orange exposed...
but I changed my mind. I love orange...so it stayed. :)
 | a few more adjustments and signed. |

Idea Spark-lers... | |
Inspiration to use in your own creative work....
Abstract compositions... from your magazines!
I love a square format... So I made this handy view finder from some card stock.
 | With an x-acto, cut out squares or rectangles in various sizes. |
Then I get a magazine... National Geographics are a good choice...
(this one is Food and Drink... the wonderful free publications from the Liquor Control Board of Ontario...LCBO... I have a very kind source that picks it up and sends it to me...thank you Sarnia Sue!)
 | Slide the viewfinder around until something that strikes your fancy. |
 | oooooh! |
I find possible compositions... or color combination's...
 | Or wonderful shapes... |
You might not want to paint it precisely as you find it... but it might spur you onto some interesting ideas.

2011...What I'm Celebrating... | | Early in January, I chose a word to use as my theme for the year... It's "Celebrate"... Here's a link to the explanation, in case you missed it.
I'm Celebrating: - The fact that I just mention that I have a blister...and magically... a box of blister dressings are hanging on our front door knob the next day...we have the best neighbors.
- Victoria's Floral Design kindly lent me some silk flowers to use as a still life set up in my acrylic class...and she doesn't even know me.
- The wonderful people that took the acrylic class at Crystal Lake Art Center...open minded folk, that tolerated my antics.
- Anticipation of Sauerbraten on Superbowl Sunday...I haven't made it in years!
- Really funny jokes in my inbox.
- My phone is working again...but I really kinda liked the day and 1/2 that it wasn't.
- My nephew dog, Gordon...he makes me laugh...and drives my sister crazy. hehehe.
- The soft tick tick tick from the clock downstairs.
- The fact that white gesso under the fingernails looks like a french manicure.
