Hi there...

Well, we're closing in on the end of January. I really do like the slow pace of the winter months... and I'm really enjoying the x-country skiing around here...
But I'm not enjoying the blister I acquired on my heel from my ski boots. :)

Yes, I'm one of those strange ducks that loves winter. Northern Michigan is a good place for me!

Hot Off the Easel!
When it's cold outside...I got the month of May
And when it's cold outside, I got the month of May.
Remember my daffodils from last week?  Here's the painting that they inspired. It's ALMOST finished...

I see one small spot that I want to fix. The far right bloom hits the outside tree a bit awkwardly...I'll shift the tree a touch. I love the flexibility of acrylic...and see those neutrals?  I'm trying!

2011...What I'm Celebrating...
Early in January, I chose a word to use as my theme for the year... It's "Celebrate"... Here's a link to the explanation, in case you missed it.

I'm Celebrating:

  • The squeeky sound snow makes when it's really cold out.
  • A new friend...a  yellow lab that literally jumped up 3 feet in the air, she was so glad to see me.
  • The wisdom that maybe the next time I'll remember that my new phone has a video capabilities when I meet the yellow lab with the amazing jumping ability.
  • wine labelThe wine, sporting the label that I painted, is available in the Detroit and Ann Arbor area. (Lake's Edge) Look for Merlot, Cab, Chardonnay or Sparkling! :)
  • The wisdom that computer work always takes way longer than you think it will...But now I know how to make and link to a PDF file (the valentine)

  • oh...and homemade applesauce too.

Classes...
I'll be teaching "Acrylics 101" at the Crystal Lake Art Center on February 1st. I'm really looking forward to this class... We'll be elbow deep in paint and techniques...then we'll pull it all together with a painting. Supplies are included... so just come and enjoy a creative play day! Can't wait!!!
