Hey there!
Well, shiver our timbers...such wind! That certainly took care of the fall leaves. We are looking bare and ready for (gasp) winter. I'm one of those rare birds that actually LOVE snow. So, bring it on! :)

And...how 'bout those Michigan State Spartans!  Can't wait for Saturday. :)  Go Green!

Acrylic on 300# paper

This past week I've painted a lot... But it was our bedroom walls. So this week's painting is another oldie...circa 2007.

I think you can see in the photo how much texture there is under the paint...Who knows how many less than stellar paintings are under there.

That's what's great about acrylic... Create a dog painting? Slap some white gesso over it and you have a wonderfully textured surface to try again on. I love acrylic. It suits my frugal tendencies.

Idea Spark-lers
Do you need some painting ideas to get you going? Well, you've come to the right place!

Wreck this Journal!  No, really... Wreck it!

When my friend Patty Henderson was visiting recently, she brought and shared a really fun book. It's called "Wreck This Journal" by Keri Smith.

Wreck this Journal

My sister and I both got one after we were laughing over Patty's. The journal gives you instructions to do the most bizarre things to it, such as...

  • Pour, spill, drip, spit, fling your coffee HERE.
  • tie a string to the spine of the book. swing wildly. let it hit the walls.
  • collect the stamps off all of your mail.
  • document a boring event in detail.
  • .drawkcab etirW
  • scribble wildly using only borrowed pens. (document where they were borrowed from)
  • tongue painting...eat some colorful candy...lick this page.

Why on earth would I suggest you get this book?  Because it pushes you out of your comfort zone!

It gives you permission to revert to childlike behavior,
which is good for the soul...and it just might make you giggle, play and be a little bit naughty.

On another note... Next week, I'm going to share any gouache ink resist efforts (step one  step 2) If you decide to try it... please send me a photo! It's fun!

Try it... you'll like it, Mikey!
(I'm showing my age there)

If you think any of your friends might be interested, please feel free to forward this email.

Have a Great Week!
