Hey there!
Back to the normal routine this week, whatever that is. :) We really have enjoyed some glorious fall days here in Michigan! Fall is my favorite.

Hot Off the Easel!
Winter Windows
Winter Windows
15 x 23
Acrylic on 300# paper

Again, not quite hot off the easel, (it was painted a while ago) but one that I like a lot. And it fits perfectly with the "idea spark-ler" below.

Idea Spark-lers
Do you need some painting ideas to get you going? Well, you've come to the right place!

Repetition, Repetition, Repetition... But I repeat myself.

You can unify a painting by using repetition. (see "Winter Windows" above) Keep playing with one shape, but keep things interesting by changing the color, the value, the scale, and the texture.

Play around with the placement of the shape... I usually find my shapes flying off the edges of the paper.

So your assignment for this week, is to get yourself some smallish (5x7) pieces of paper, and REPEAT this spark-ler. (get it?) I'm suggesting this as an exercise, but you just might end up with something frame-able!

PS... If any of you have tried the gouache ink resist, and want to share your efforts, please email me a photo of your painting! Don't be stingy... share! :)

If you think any of your friends might be interested, please feel free to forward this email.

Have a Great Week!
Lauren
