Ain't She Sweet?
I am up to my eyeballs in holiday portraits and cards but I wanted to take a little time out to talk about taking a picture of someone in front of a Christmas tree.
Last month, I talked about dragging the shutter.
The topic came to mind yesterday when I had the pleasure of photographing this darling baby in her home. It was daytime, which mean the light in the room and the lights on the tree were about equally bright. I decided to drag the shutter so we could see the Christmas tree lights. This must have been the happiest baby I have ever seen! She smiled and laughed and was so much fun to photograph.
If you want some details, I used a large softbox right of the camera and shot at 1/80th of a second, 200 ISO, and f-stop of 4.0. I used my 80-200 zoom lens (focal length 170mm) for this shot to keep the background a bit more out of focus.
Hope this helps with some of your holiday portraits! Back with a featured client in a couple of weeks.
