Dear friends,
I'm blessed to be part of an international, cyber-Marianist Lay Community called Our Lady of the Round Table. Along with our daily sharing of lectio prayer and reflections, we chat about life in our part of the world.
This past month, I've been grumbling about -40C temperatures in Manitoba. Meanwhile, Lorna and Julie described extreme high heats and drought conditions in Kenya and Australia. And Susan told us that the first buds of spring are appearing in Ireland. We didn't believe her, so she sent this photo as proof!
We also shared the excitement of the US inaugural celebrations with Marceta, Joanne, Chris - and Mary, the American export to Paris.
Each month, when I sit down to edit the Gifts and Tasks, my mind takes an international trip. The newsletters, articles, and photos offer a wee window into the world of our global Marianist family. I'm filled with gratitude for the ties that unite us across these many miles. It also increases my excitement for the upcoming International Meeting of MLC in Nairobi, where some of us will have the opportunity to meet in person.
There is still much work ahead for all of us. As delegates are chosen, money is raised, documents are drafted, meeting preparations planned, and travel arrangements made, may we remain united in prayer....
that all shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well! (Julian of Norwich)
Affectionately,

Isabella Moyer

125th Anniversary Celebrations in Hawai'i
On January 24th, the Marianist family in
Hawai'i celebrated the 125th anniversary of Marianist presence on
the islands. Almost 450 guests were in attendance. At the mass, 25 women and
men made their first commitments as lay Marianists. In addition, 35 lay
Marianists renewed their commitments, and 2 Marianist Sisters and approximately
30 Marianist Brothers renewed their vows. What a wonderful statement of the
rootedness and growth of the Marianist charism in Hawai'i!
We hope to have more photos and reflections from the
celebration for the next issue of Gifts and Tasks.
