The Pyramid Society was saddened to learn of the passing of Eloise Kline on November 14th at the age of 95. Mrs. Kline, the widow of founding Pyramid Society member James Kline of Kline Arabians in Chino, California, retained her love of life and keen interest in others right up until the end. PYRAMID SOCIETY NEWS
Introducing our NEW LOGO!
Thanks to the combined efforts of Shawn Getty of Getty Design, Somis, CA, and the design team at Tabula Creative Communications, Philadelphia, PA, The Pyramid Society is excited to officially unveil our NEW LOGO! The updated design includes elements from our original logo, such as the pyramid shape and the foundational horse inspired by Judith Forbis, coupled with modern lines and a bold, clear wordmark that can be used easily in a variety of settings.
This refreshed design is part of The Pyramid Society's broader marketing and branding efforts in 2012, including our dedication to more promotion of the Straight Egyptian horse around the world, as well as the launch of our new website in 2012. Look for the new logo to begin appearing in all Pyramid Society communications and publications in the coming months!
Current members: if you would like a copy-ready version of the new logo for use in your farm's marketing materials, just email Kory Wilcox at kory@pyramidsociety.org, or call the office at (859) 231-0771.
NEW! The Golden Scarab Sweepstakes (GSS) Futurity Program
News is easy to come by this month at The Pyramid Society, and the introduction of our new Golden Scarab Sweepstakes program is nothing short of a headline! Having paid out over $1,000,000 since inception, The Pyramid Society Straight Egyptian and Egyptian-sired Futurities have been some of the most successful classes in Egyptian Event history. Now, we're aiming to extend that success with the GSS.
In a nutshell, GSS Stallions are qualified EBC Stallions who become eligible for participation through a $500 annual nomination fee, used to build the GSS pot. Qualifying (Straight Egyptian or pure-bred, non-Straight) mare owners who purchase breedings to these GSS stallions throughout the year can then pay a $200 nomination fee for each resulting foal, further building the pot. Furthermore, The Pyramid Society will only retain 10% in administrative fees the first year to help really grow the pot! The two nomination fees, combined with class entry fees at the Egyptian Event, will offer exciting cash rewards to the top 5 winners in these new ATH Yearling classes, beginning in 2014 for foals nominated in 2012.
For more information on this exciting new Pyramid Society Futurity program, look to the 2012 Stallion Guide or CLICK HERE for a more detailed description, posted in advance on our website! Plan now to join the excitement, and expect to WIN BIG!

El Gamil Stud Wins at Rabab Championship International ECAHO C-show - Damietta, Egypt
Ashraf El Gamil writes to share that ALL El Gamil contenders in the Rabab Championship International ECAHO C-show in Egypt in October were skillfully shown to prizes by Troy Smith and El Gamil team. Elegant filly Nehmedoh El Gamil became Champion Yearling Filly. The U.S.-bred stallion Milagro TDA got the highest score in his class and tied for a class win with a stallion who went on to become Junior Champion. Second to none, Milagro became Reserve Champion in his class and Egyptian Reserve Champion Junior Stallion.
The regal three-year-old filly Malika Hemeda went Top Three and was the best moving filly of the show. Beautiful two-year-old filly Shahrazad El Gabry took 4th place in an extremely competitive class. "With the safe return of the champions, life at El Gamil Stud is back to normal," reports Ashraf El Gamil. To learn more about El Gamil Stud, visit www.elgamilstud.com.

Experiencing The Horses and Hospitality of Qatar and Kuwait
Liz Salmon, Equine Consultant and Pyramid Society member, reports on her journeys in 2011:
"In July, I was very honored to be asked to do some consulting work along with two other international judges at one of the largest, most well-known Straight Egyptian farms in Qatar. I returned to Qatar in November for the WAHO Conference, where we also visited many of the farms, including Al Shaqab, Al Naif, Al Nasser, Al Shahania, Umm Qarn, Al Maha and Al Samariyah. Small groups also visited Al Rayyan. Horse and camel racing was also included, making it a wonderful trip with the 300 conference participants. The hospitality was amazing at the farms; they put on great presentations of horses and wonderful food." "I then went on to Kuwait and was hosted by Al & Reem Al-Qenaei of Al Janan Stud. I looked at their new impressive herd and was taken to visit several other Stud Farms including Ezzain, Ajmal, Bait Al Arab, Asayel and Al Sharg. In Kuwait, 60% of their horses are Straight Egyptian. I was very impressed with the horses I saw, one of the most memorable was seeing the wonderful old boy Ansata Hejazi." "I will be returning to Kuwait in February with Diana Cantey to observe their shows, including their first Straight Egyptian show. I will be judging overseas again next year, which I nearly always enjoy, although I fear the show scene is not as it used to be when I started judging 45 years ago."
Liz's recounting of her time in Kuwait and Qatar is timely as The Pyramid Society works to coordinate a group trip to the region in February, 2012. For information on this opportunity to experience the horses and hospitality of Kuwait and Qatar firsthand with fellow Society members, CLICK HERE.
