Turn the Lights On in
Nebraska!
| The national Afterschool
Alliance has been turning the spotlight on afterschool programs for over ten
years. Join thousands across the country on October 21, 2010 in celebrating Lights On Afterschool, an annual event that calls attention to the vital role that high quality
afterschool programs play for America's children, families and communities. This year we would like to see more Nebraska communities participate. We
strongly encourage program advocates to hold Lights On Afterschool events to
raise the profile of your initiative. Visit www.AfterschoolAlliance.org/loaEventKit.cfm to register your
event and gain access to a comprehensive guide, full of ready to use materials,
to help you plan, organize, implement and promote your own event. At the state level, the Nebraska Community Learning Center Network will host a workshop at the Expanding Horizon conference
(see above) describing how you can use a Lights On event to build community support
for sustainable afterschool programs. The Network will also prepare a proclamation for Governor Heineman to
sign identifying October 21st as Lights On Afterschool Day in
Nebraska.
