STEM and Afterschool
|
Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) initiatives are an increasingly hot topic in afterschool circles. With the ability to provide youth hands on learning activities not bound by the traditional school schedule, afterschool programs are a great place for educators to help instill wonder and engagement in science. With the Federal government prioritizing STEM activities in competitive applications, afterschool programs are well positioned to be valued partners with schools. Learn how afterschool and STEM can be an ideal fit here.
The Nebraska CLC Network has initiated a STEM and Afterschool Work Group that will explore how we can support the development of a system that encourages additional and higher quality STEM content in our afterschool programs. Contact us if you are interested in becoming involved in this exciting work.

Celebrate Summer Learning Day June 21st
|
Another "hot" topic is National Summer Learning Day on Monday, June 21. Don't miss this opportunity to showcase your program and highlight the importance of summer learning in your community. If you cannot have an event on the 21st, consider hosting one sometime this summer. Find tools to help plan your celebration at the National Summer Learning Association website. |
