Greetings!
It's October and fall is in full swing, and many Newf fanciers look forward to Draft Tests, Pumpkin Pulls, and Halloween costume contests. Here we see Judi Randall's Chuckie dressed as the Tin Man. Remember that community events are always a good time for us to be ambassadors for the breed and provide us with opportunities to educate the public about our Newfoundlands. If you are looking for resources to share for public education, you can download a number of informative brochures from the NCA website.
As always, we want to hear from you. Email us at any time with your comments and suggestions. |

DNA Samples Urgently Needed!
|
The Cranial Cruciate Ligament Study (CCLR) which is being conducted at the University of Minnesota and funded through the Newfoundland Health Challenge is in need of DNA. DNA from any Newfoundland who has experienced a torn cruciate ligament or any member of his/her immediate family, sire dam, siblings, the DNA is needed. Please visit the CHIC website for the directions on how to submit your Newf's DNA to the CHIC DNA repository. And the good news is that there is a rebate program to subsidize the submission of DNA to the CHIC DNA repository. Each DNA submission is eligible for a $20.00 rebate. Please order your kit, have the blood drawn and ship it tomorrow. This study could provide the key for those Newfs who are predisposed to a CCLR, please invest in the future of the our breed and donate the needed DNA. Read more about the study.
