Dear Friends,

I fondly envision the following conversations taking place  in parishioner's homes this Saturday night:

Spouse 1: "Oh my gosh honey we're having budget discussions tomorrow we've got to get the kids to church!"
Spouse 2: The budget--O I just love this time of year.  Nothing takes me out of my bleak mid-winter blahs like a lively conversation that focuses on how to match our money to our ministries.
Child dressed in Green and Gold--head to toe:  This will also be a great time to tell Bonnie how wrong she was about God blessing the "Cheese-Makers."

So on this cold January weekend--what's not to love about coming together on Sunday--to spend some time with God, spend some time with each other and begin to figure out what the future ministries  of our congregation may be.  The Future is now.

All the best,
Bonnie

Copies of our proposed 2011 operating budget are available here and we'll also have some hard copies available as we gather between the 9:00 and 11:00 worship services.  It looks like we will have about a $30,000 deficit between our financial gifts and what we say we'd like to accomplish.  Please come with plenty of thoughts on how we address/eliminate or close this gap.

It is not too late to make a pledge of financial support to All Saints' for 2011!
Click here to make your 2011 pledge to All Saints'

stewardship2010_baptismEvery day of every week the doors of our church, All Saints' Episcopal Church, are open. They are open to countless people for worship, for outreach, for our community, for all of us. We come through the doors for different reasons. Some of us have found special meaning and relevance in our services, some of us want our children to be a part of a living and growing church school, and some of us have found our connection to social outreach.

We count on you to continue to grow in grace, spirituality, and community involvement. All of the above numbers start with one. One person making a pledge of his/her time and money. Read more...

Pledge cards available in the back of the church or pledge online by clicking here.

Annual Giving Statements Mailed This Week

If you made financial contributions to All Saints' in 2010 you should receive a statement of those contributions in the mail this week. If you don't receive your statement or you have a question about it, please contact Beau in the Parish Office at 773-561-0111 or beau@allsaintschicago.org.

Missing your favorite baking dish? Maybe its at church!
When you were doing your holiday cooking, did you notice that your favorite baking dish was missing?  It may not be gone forever!  We have an entire bin of left-behind items from potlucks and parish events, so please stop by during coffee hour to dig through the and see if yours turns up.  We'll have the bin up in the Parish Hall for the next couple of Sundays.  Thanks!
Centering Prayer-
Adult Fath Explorations Continues Thursday at 7:30pm
Be still and know that I am God
(Psalm 46:10).

On Thursday night, February 3, at 7:30pm in the choir area of the church, we will explore meditation together, focusing specifically on Centering Prayer.  This method of silent prayer, based on and updated from ancient contemplative teachings, is meant to help us open our whole beings to God, the Ultimate Mystery.  Be prepared to learn and practice!

Save the Date- Freedom to Marry Day 2/13
Save the Date for action sponsored by the Justice Circle for Freedom to Marry Day. We are planning an educational action on Michigan Avenue at 2:00pm on 2/13. Join us for a planning meeting after the 11:00 service this Sunday, or stay tuned for more details. For more information, contact Matty Zaradich at matthewzaradich@gmail.com.
Ravenswood Run
Sunday, May 1
On Sunday, May 1, thousands of neighbors will converge on the Chicago intersection of Wilson and Hermitage Avenues for a morning of running, socializing and community-building that raises funds to help neighbors in need.  Proceeds from the Ravenswood Run benefit Ravenswood Community Services' local hunger relief efforts and the student health centers at Amundsen and Lake View high schools.  Register now for the 15th Ravenswood Run 5k.

46th Ward Aldermanic Candidate Forum
Sunday, February 6 at 2pm
On Sunday, February 6, 2011 at 2:00 pm, the League of Women Voters of Chicago and the Peoples Church of Chicago will host an aldermanic forum with the candidates for alderman of the 46th Ward at the church, 941 W. Lawrence Avenue. To date, nine of the people on the ballot have accepted the invitation. The program will include time for statements as well as questions from the audience to help the voters of the 46th Ward (Uptown) make an informed decision at the February 22, 2011 Municipal General Election. For the last 24 years, the ward has been represented by Helen Shiller, who has decided not to run for re-election. If you live in the 46th Ward, please come! Or, pass this information on to a friend who lives there. If you have questions, please contact Annie Logue, annielogue@gmail.com.
