Dear Friends,

I invite you to gather for our Annual Meeting on Sunday, February 6 at 10:00.  On that day we will have an 8:00 and 9:00 worship service but no 11:00 service.  At the meeting we'll have brunch, thank some of our unsung heroes, review, comment and perhaps amend our proposed operating budget for 2011, elect a new co-warden, vestry members, diocesan representatives and discern our course of action for the coming year.  I guarantee that it will be a lively event.  Our theme--"The Future is Now" will lend itself to plenty of light saber battles, trekkie outfits, and perhaps a few orbits around the galaxy of our dreams.

Let's face it--you don't want to miss this amazing event!  (Its true I don't get out much.)

See you this Sunday.

All my best,
Bonnie

It is not too late to make a pledge of financial support to All Saints' for 2011!
Click here to make your 2011 pledge to All Saints'

stewardship2010_baptismEvery day of every week the doors of our church, All Saints' Episcopal Church, are open. They are open to countless people for worship, for outreach, for our community, for all of us. We come through the doors for different reasons. Some of us have found special meaning and relevance in our services, some of us want our children to be a part of a living and growing church school, and some of us have found our connection to social outreach.

We count on you to continue to grow in grace, spirituality, and community involvement. All of the above numbers start with one. One person making a pledge of his/her time and money. Read more...

Pledge cards available in the back of the church or pledge online by clicking here.

Missing your favorite baking dish? Maybe its at church!
When you were doing your holiday cooking, did you notice that your favorite baking dish was missing?  It may not be gone forever!  We have an entire bin of left-behind items from potlucks and parish events, so please stop by during coffee hour to dig through the and see if yours turns up.  We'll have the bin up in the Parish Hall for the next couple of Sundays.  Thanks!

Adult Faith Explorations Prayer Series Continues
Spiritual Exercises of Ignatius of Loyola
Thursday, January 27 at 7:30pm
Choir Area of the Church
We will explore prayer in the context of the Spiritual Exercises of Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuit order, giving particular attention to his use of imaginative contemplation.   Our time together will consist of a brief overview of traditional use of the exercises, followed by a prayerful reading and meditation on some of the contemplations.
Annual Meeting Coming February 6
Annual Reports Due January 24
Annual Meeting Coming February 6!
The annual meeting is on Sunday, February 6 at 10:00am.  There will be no 11:00 worship service.  Instead we'll gather in our parish hall to share a meal, reflect on 2010 and move forward with our ministries for 2011!   If you are interested in standing for election for vestry or for diocesan representative please speak with Bonnie or one of our co-wardens Alison Mankowski (alisonmankowski@sbcglobal.net)  or Ken Jones at (kjones60625@gmail.com).

Creativity and Production
Planning Meeting Sunday after the 11am Service
Would you like to use your creativity in a way you never thought possible? If so, we could use your help to plan and produce the Annual Meeting. If you're interested in helping, contact Bonnie at bonnie@allsaintschicago.org. We'll begin our work this coming Sunday at a meeting after the 11am service.

Annual Reports Due Monday, January 24 by 5pm
One of the ways we celebrate our ministries each year is
by including information about what they have done in each year's
Annual Report. Almost all of our ministries have something in the
Annual Report.

If you'd like to have something included in the Annual Report, the
deadline is Monday, January 24 at 5pm. You can email your submission to Beau Surratt at beau@allsaintschicago.org. Submissions need not be long--just a paragraph or two of what you'd like the congregation to know about your ministry and what it has done in 2010. Any pictures you could send would also be welcome.

If you have no idea what this is about or your need a refresher
about what you might write, take a look at last year's annual report for reference.

Cleanup
We need a crew of folks to help cleanup following the Annual Meeting on Sunday, February 6. If you can help, please contact Beau in the office at 773-561-0111 or beau@allsaintschicago.org.
Conversation about All Saints' Proposed 2011 Budget
Sunday, January 30 between the 9 and 11am Services
In the Parish Hall
marbles

Join members of the finance committee and the vestry on Sunday, January 30 between the 9 and 11am services for a conversation about our proposed 2011 budget.

At the "Investing in our Future" event back in November and on the Sundays that followed, we had an opportunities to discern how we wanted to invest in All Saints' future. The finance committee has taken that information along with the financial pledge commitments we've made for 2011 and developed a proposed 2011 budget. We'll begin the work of

reviewing, commenting upon and perhaps amending it on January 30 and continue at our Annual Meeting on February 6.
Calling All RCS Volunteers:
Whether you volunteer at the Tuesday Night Food Pantry, Community Kitchen, Thursday morning deliveries, The Clinic, Market Pantry, focus:future, All Saints' Cafe, Reality Fair, Hunger Rock, Hunger Walk or anything else we've failed to mention here - we want your input!

Please join us for a Volunteer Steering Committee meeting on Tuesday, February 15 at 7:30pm. We will be discussing the RCS Board's recent strategic planning activities; channels for volunteer participation and feedback; and new service opportunities, including prospective literacy and nutrition programs.

We hope you will join us in thoughtful conversation about our shared vision for RCS in 2011.  Email Liz at liz@ravenswoodcommunityservices.org if you plan to attend, so we can be sure to have enough snacks!

On Friday, January 28,
Ravenswood School is hosting an Adult Dodgeball Tournament!
Will YOUR team be ready?

We're hoping to assemble 16 teams, 10 adult players each (5 men, 5 women), for one night of EXTREME fun--and fund raising--in support of Ravenswood School.

Don't miss your chance. Put a team together now!
Recruit your friends from work! I'm sure there is someone you've always secretly wanted to see get blasted with a dodgeball, right? Make sure they sign up.*

Convince your company, favorite bar, or favorite restaurant to sponsor your team. It's the least they could do, right?

Entry fees are tax-deductible! This means that you may be eligible for a tax write-off and get to live out your adult-dodgeball fantasies at the same time. (That's called a "Win-Win" proposition.)

The Details
When: Friday, January 28, 2011; 7:00pm tournament begins (team sign-in begins at 6:30pm)
Where: Ravenswood School gymnasium, 4332 N Paulina St., Chicago
Entry Fee: A tax-deductible donation of $300 per team (that's just $30/player...or, if you get a team sponsor, it could be FREE...for you anyway.)
Prizes: TBD and based on number of teams participating (As if you really need any more encouragement to participate, yes, prizes will be awarded to top winners.)
Uniforms and/or Costumes: Not required, but highly encouraged. Show team unity. Be creative!

How To Sign Up
Don't wait until the last minute! To sign up your team, contact Andy McSheffery at: 773.275.5197 or andymcshef@aol.com

* All players will be required to sign a waiver and release form to participate in the tournament. Please play nicely! We want everyone to have fun while supporting Ravenswood school. The dodgeball court is not the place to settle your personal differences or to work out your anger-management issues. (Save that for your next family reunion or employee picnic.) Thank you!

Can you provide a meal or a ride to a fellow All Saintser?
Rides to Church- Nancy Brewer
Longtime parishioner Nancy Brewer is in need to a ride to and from church on Sunday mornings. She can go to either the 9 or 11am service.

If you are able to provide assistance, simply send an email to Beau in the Parish Office (beau@allsaintschicago.org) and he'll send you the login info for the Care Calendar so you can sign up to help.

Meals, etc.- the Nelson/Youngberg family
As you'll see in the blessings section of the prayer list, Laura Youngberg, Chris Nelson and their son William have a new addition to their family, Anton Charles.

Thanks to parishioner Michelle Mayes, we have a Care Calendar set up for them so friends, family and church members can help provide a meal or other assistance now that baby Anton has arrived.

If you are able to provide assistance, simply send an email to Beau in the Parish Office (beau@allsaintschicago.org) and he'll send you the login info for the Care Calendar so you can sign up to help.
