Georgia Afterschool Program Launches Space Boards Program Outfits 50 iPads with Spaceboard Apps:
Georgia-based FLAAG (Family Literacy, Academic Achievement and Growth), sponsored by Mt. Olive Community Outreach Center at Turner Elementary School in Albany Georgia bought 32 iPads last fall and outfitted each of them them with Space Board apps for use in their federally funded (21st Century Fund Grant) after-school program. Their program services 250 kids, grades 1-5, and provides continuing education for parents, including GED.
The Spaceboard iPad apps have been amazingly well-received by the students and teachers, and they just ordered 18 more iPads with Space Boards. App developer Mike Sanford says, ""FLAAG and Turner Elementary are bringing the best of mobile learning technology to hundreds of deserving students, all eager to learn!"

Interview with the Decision-Makers
Dr. Gail Solomon and Leslie P. Heard Q + A:

Q: What was the reasoning behind your choice to use Space Boards in your program?
LPH: We first discovered Spaceboards at the Foundations Afterschool Conference in February of 2011 and were instantly impressed with the quality of the product. We were equally impressed at the amount of potential that we saw in this product as an excellent learning tool for the FLAAG participants.
Space Boards are innovative learning tools that can be used easily by kids of all ages. It makes learning fun and exciting. The minute our iPads were placed on order we contacted Mr. Sanford to make our Space Boards purchase. The apps are pure genius, allowing kids to learn new material, and / or get extra practice on lessons to catch up ... all digitally on the iPad! No printing out of paper worksheets.
This has been, by far, one of the best purchases that we have made for our program and the children love learning through these apps.
Q: How has the system been received with the students?
GS: It's the most amazing response. The kids love the apps and their parents love that the kids are having fun learning.
Q: How has the system been received with the teachers?
GS: The teachers are so excited about teaching with the apps that we have had 3 teams of teachers sign up to develop their own apps. That's the beauty of the Space Boards system ... the use of the apps in schools, and the development of the apps by teachers both benefit the process of education.
