     Muslims & Christians Working Together
     
    Joy and Gary Addiego are collecting names and email addresses of people interested in participating in a nine-session program on Muslim / Christian relations.  The ideal class consists of a facilitator and seven Christians and seven Muslims.  Each class session will be two and a half hours long.
     
    Material for the program or "module" has been prepared by an organization called Just Faith Ministries whose founder Jack Jezreel will be speaking at St. Elizabeth Seton on Saturday, April 14, 1:00 to 4:00 PM.   Read on
     
     
    Islamic Community Outreach of California
       

    Dr. Amer Araim

    Dr. Amer Araim, the president of Islamic Community Outreach of California and a member of the Executive Committee of the Interfaith Council of Contra Costa County, spoke recently at the Mt. Diablo Unitarian Universalist Church in Walnut Creek.  He spoke briefly about Islam and American Muslims.  He said that most Arabs are Muslim but most Muslims are not Arabs.  There are 1.5 billion Muslims and 300 million Arabs.  Islam is a religion of peace and fair dealing.  Many of the ills and atrocities that have occurred in some Islamic countries are due to backwardness and tribalism within their populations, not to Islam.  American Muslims respect the rights and freedoms that they have as Americans.  Read on

    $86,000 in Grants Scheduled  

    The schedule of proposed grants totaling $86,000 to help low-budget charitable and community empowerment organizations locally and around the globe can be seen at 2012 Grants (after clicking on "Open").  The column labeled "Changes" shows increases since 2011.  These grants are administered by the Social Justice Committee as described at Admin Grants.
