Muslims & Christians Working Together

Joy and Gary Addiego are collecting names and email addresses of people interested in participating in a nine-session program on Muslim / Christian relations.  The ideal class consists of a facilitator and seven Christians and seven Muslims.  Each class session will be two and a half hours long.

Material for the program or "module" has been prepared by an organization called Just Faith Ministries whose founder Jack Jezreel will be speaking at St. Elizabeth Seton on Saturday, April 14, 1:00 to 4:00 PM.

The title of the module is In the Spirit of St Francis and the Sultan: Muslims & Christians Working Together for the Common Good.  Information describing the module, including (as "Sample Material") guidelines for the first session, is available at

http://justfaith.org/programs/justmatters-m_stfrancisandsultan.html.

If you are interested in participating in the nine-session Muslim / Christian module, send your name, email address, phone number and city to

socialjustice@catholicsofpleasnton.org and your emails will be forwarded to Joy and Gary Addiego.  They are looking for a facilitator and a place to meet.

Joy Addiego became interested in Muslim, Jewish and Christian beliefs as a middle school teacher required to give students an awareness of comparative religion as part of history.  As she was teaching this and other subjects she was taken with the beauty of her Muslim students and their families.  As the years have gone by she has tried to learn more about different religions and to find ways to communicate the essential sameness of core beliefs. She sees focusing on the common good as key to mutual understanding and effective interreligious cooperation.
