Sacramento -- The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association issued the following statement today from president Jon Coupal regarding the no-new-taxes budget passed by the California Legislature last night:
"Last night, we witnessed a victory for taxpayers in California.  Effective midnight tomorrow, a multi-billion-dollar tax burden will be lifted from the shoulders of California taxpayers, thanks to our fellow taxfighters and Republican members of the Legislature who stood firm in opposition to all efforts to raise taxes on the backs of hard-working Californians and their families

"Yet while we celebrate today, much more work lies ahead in the areas of pension reform and spending reform.
