Cultivate a Practice of Gratitude
Did you know that it is physically impossible to hold a negative thought in your mind while you're thinking a positive one? To combat those annoying and often prevalent thoughts that creep into our mind space, consider planting a different thought in its place, such as one of gratitude.

By calling to mind what and who we are grateful for, we create a feeling physiologically of overall wellness. The better we get at reminding ourselves of what we have to be grateful for, the better we feel.

Where thought goes, energy follows...

In the book, "A Simple Act of Gratitude" by John Kralik, the author shares his year of thank you's in which he set an intention to write a thank you every day of 2008. During this time, Kralik was feeling primarily depressed. This mission helped him to move through his anguish and he continues his practice of sending thank-you's to this day.

When contemplating your own thoughts of gratuitude, consider being specific. For example:

"I am grateful for the way that person smiled at me in the grocery store today because it reminded me that in slowing down we become aware of what is going on around us."

"I am grateful for the two cardinals visiting my bird feeder this morning because my family and I got to stop and enjoy their beauty before we started our day."

"I am grateful for certain friendships that allow me to be myself and to be accepted unconditionally without pretenses."

Little things, big things, whatever strikes a chord in your heart, write them down nightly or call them to mind before retiring to sleep and dreams. It's a powerful way to start the year, to raise your vibration and to attract more to be grateful about.

Happy January and Happy, Happy New Year!

A great January read for understanding the self and the challenges we face, every individual should be required to read this at least once during their lifetime.
