The clip is a first attempt at making this newsletter a little more engaging, and I do intend to make the inclusion of video clips a regular feature.
Alexis de Tocqueville's remark about American women says quite a bit about the spheres of control and influence. In the Nineteenth Century, the home was the American woman's main sphere of control, and therefore might seem infinitesimal to a woman of today. However, that same American woman's sphere of influence was anything but small! Leading business and political figures owed much of their success to those private conferences where organic "female intuition" was fused with the cold iron of male business sense. The result was to forge a supremely-tempered, high-quality steel, well able to prevail in the battlegrounds of both boardroom and stateroom. The large sphere of influence surely extended the sphere of interest, which, although greatly eroded, remains till today.
How is your sphere of control, of responsibility? Have you stepped up to the plate and taken full charge of it? Have you determined what your true responsibilities are, and are you committed to the highest quality as you prosecute their fulfillment? Have you determined to release those things that do not belong in your sphere of control? Only then will your sphere of influence grow in both depth and extent. And when that happens, your sphere of influence will start to shape your sphere of interest.
