One of the buzzwords these days is that we should do our best to "make others successful". While this is quite well known, I am not sure how well it is realized and appreciated. Most people would probably feel pretty good about helping someone else be successful, provided, in most cases, that the "someone else" doesn't happen to be a competitor! While we are also familiar with Henry Ford's dictum that "The competitor to be feared is one that doesn't bother about you at all, but goes about quietly and consistently improving his own business", we DO tend to get flustered by news of a competitor's success, new product launch, etc., rather than "minding our own business". Well, instead of that, if we would focus more on improving our own businesses, we would all be far happier, have lower medical bills, and would actually enjoy our vacations when we do take them! Making others successful is a vital component of any successful business.
Think about it. Why do your customers or clients use your products or services? Is it because they feel good about your products and services and therefore owe you a debt of gratitude? Of course we know that it is not so. Harvey MacKay says "Gratitude is the least deeply felt of

all human emotions", so we shouldn't count on it. What we should count on is that our goods and/ or services are of value to our customers/ clients. One of the main reasons they are is because they help our customers/ clients become more successful in whatever they do! Ron Jenson says that "We all gravitate towards our own definition of success". This is a basic motivational force that drives our thoughts, feelings, words and actions. Make someone else successful, and your value increases in that person's estimation. Continue making that person successful, and you become an essential, highly desirable part of that person's world. Therefore, think of how we can serve the needs of others so that they can achieve success, and our own success increases.
However, a more important reason why we should be so enthusiastic about making others successful is the sense of well-being and positively glowing achievement that comes from so doing. When we live continuously at that level, we become more creative, more joyful, more enthusiastic, and this affects our own clients/ customers in a very positive way. People will start to desire having us around and will want to engage our services and buy our goods because we give value and that contributes immensely to the achievement of their success. Think about it. Do you have suppliers that you are happy to pay, even if it is just to have them around in your world? Do you have customers or clients who appear at your office or shopfront, just to talk for a while, or are constantly engaging you on social media, even? Do your clients call you if they need some help that is not related to the business you are engaged in? If you are, you are already rolling in the wealth of making others successful. If not, well, start looking for ways to do so!
Go well!
