Will Your Bathroom Scale Send You
a Valentine?
I hate to tell you, but your bathroom scale does not love you, so you probably won't get a Valentine from it this February 14th. The scale doesn't know how to measure "worth" or "beauty," and it can't differentiate water retention from true fat. It's just a cold, lifeless machine that measures numbers, and numbers can be misleading.
You won't find love or satisfaction in diet pills or "get thin quick" fad diets, either. Those things are just candy-coated empty promises. They look good on the inside, but they offer nothing substantial to satisfy the deep emotional needs that lead you to turn to food for love in the first place.
Rather than expect love from the bathroom scale or quick-fix diets, or even from the Valentines Day chocolate itself, accept the love that comes freely from your God in Heaven. Ask Him to help you learn to be satisfied with small, incremental improvements in your habits. Over time, those small changes will add up to a healthier and happier you.
