Namaste!
There's been much to-do at the blue these past few weeks around letting go. Full moon, solstice, eclipse, fire bowls... So January 1 may be "just another day" but we live in a time with so few rituals, that the ones we have can become deeply imbued with meaning. But letting go is tricky! There are the things that we need to "let go of" such as bad habits ranging from poor diet choices to negative thinking- the things that take some dedicated attention and discipline to shift, but seem manageable to approach. Then we have those things we want to let go of, like disappointment, resentment, or anger- feelings and emotions that have settled, uninvited, heavily into our hearts. Allowing these emotions to move through us and be released takes time, patience and compassion, but enough years on the planet and we learn this art form by the adage "time heals all wounds." But then there are things that we should let go of, but we are seemingly impossibly attached to: from forgiving an old hurt by which we've come to identify ourselves to habits or relationships which no longer serve us- patterns so deeply ingrained we don't even know how to begin, or where we would be without them. And so we turn to the practice. And the practice says let go. Kinder still, the practice asks us only to be willing to let go, if that is where we are. This kind of surrender requires trust in the process, faith in something greater than the small self, and courage to face fear, the unknown, and the discomfort of change. It is easy to become impatient around our expectations of how letting go will happen, when, where, and how long it will take. And so we must first be willing, and then return to the Trifecta of Letting Go; trust, faith, courage. Over. And over. And over again. And so we let go, we surrender with presence to all that the process is and will be, and we gradually open to Grace. And when Grace enters, we are healed. May the turning of this page be marked by letting go, so that space is created for Love to rush in. Happy New Year, friends.
Peace,
Jill

i wonder . . . |
your questions about yoga
How often should I come to class?
What's more important than frequency is consistency. It's much better to come to class once a week, every week than to fit in four classes one week, and none for the next three weeks. Once you establish a yoga habit, you'll begin to see a big difference in how you feel -- as well as physical progress on the mat. Even with that one class per week, you will notice when you miss one (and so will your family and co-workers!) The benefits of yoga grow exponentially as you practice more regularly and more often. But you never want yoga to feel like "one more thing" on the to-do list. Make it a part of the rhythm of your life -- as time you give to yourself.

yin yoga weekend |
guest teacher heather tiddens january 14-16
We are once again pleased to welcome Heather Tiddens for a weekend of Yin and Yang yoga, as she weaves the healing powers of these two very different styles of yoga into an integrated, balanced practice. The quiet Yin Yoga practice encourages the body/mind to open as each pose is held passively for several minutes. The Yang practice of deep breathing with intense pose sequences deepens your edges of self-discovery while cultivating strength, flexibility and energy flow. Yoking these mutually supportive yoga styles creates an opportunity for healing the stress and trauma, and their underlying conditioning that block our potential and limit our lives.
Experience the freedom of being fully at home in your body -- energized, open, powerful and graceful.
Unlocking Hips & Shoulders, 6:00-9:00 pm, Friday, January 14 Arm Balances and Inversions, 2:00-5:00 pm, Saturday, January 15 Backbending & Forward Bends, 8:00-11:00 am, Sunday, January 16
These open sessions take place during a blue lotus Yoga Immersion & Teacher Training weekend. Space is very limited. Register online today.
