Lunch with Chef Robert Reynolds & Chef Kristen Murray

Dear HFM Community Member,

Please be our guest...This Saturday, September 25th, Chef Robert Reynolds of The Chef Studio and Chef Kristen Murray, Pastry Chef at Paley's Place, will be serving up a delightful meal made from fresh market ingredients.

This event is part of a series of community building fundraisers for our newest program - Fresh Funds. The Fresh Funds Program has been very successful in its first season.

The Hollywood Farmers Market offers a dollar-to-dollar match, up to five dollars, to customers who choose to use their SNAP benefits (formerly known as food stamps) at the market. This greatly increases the capacity for low-income families to make healthy choices through the purchase of locally grown, fresh products at the market.

But the benefits don't stop there.

This program puts dollars directly in the hands of our local farmers. Through increased use of SNAP benefits at farmers markets, federal dollars that would otherwise be spent at a grocery store - likely supporting Big Agriculture, Mega-farms, and monocrops - go to support the small farms you've grown to know and love over the past 14 seasons.

These dollars help secure and fortify the foodshed of our region, support a healthy local economy, and give a helping hand to others in need.

Please join us in supporting this program and delighting in the bounty the Hollywood Farmers Market has to offer.

Call now to reserve a seat at the table - 503-709-7403.

Sincerely,

About the Chefs

Robert Reynolds
robertChef Robert Reynolds is a teacher, chef, and expert in the "arts of the table". Founder of The Chef Studio, Robert's repertoire spans the globe while his culinary focus celebrates the cuisines of France and Italy. His history is rich and storied, much like the ingredients he prepares and dishes he creates.

We suggest reading this article for more about Robert, or better yet get to know him through his culinary creation this Saturday at the next HFM Market Lunch!

Kristen Murray
kristen murrayChef Kristen Murray recently became the Pastry Chef at Paley's Place and is widely known as "the best pastry chef in Portland". Hearing this about a month ago, we were very intrigued around the Hollywood Farmers Market office as Kristen was scheduled for our August Cooking Demonstration. Her Sweet Corn Biscuits with Honeyed Bush Berries and Creme Fraiche did not disappoint.

Kristen will be preparing the dessert for this Saturday's Market Lunch. Fresh off the plane from competing in the First Annual StarChefs.com International Pastry Competition, we are sure that Kristen will be armed with fresh inspiration ready to serve you the sweet treat of your dreams.

Can't make it to a Market Lunch? Still want to support the Fresh Funds Program? Consider making a small donation at the HFM Information Booth this or any Saturday. With crowd counts of over 4,000 adults every week, if every shopper donated just $2, we'd have more than enough funds for the entire season.
