Volunteer Updates
|
Two young Notre Dame graduates, Allison Cudworth and
Christine Cardoza, are now at our rural school and boarding facility at Hassan where children from poor, outlying villages are living so that they may be able to attend school.
Tamuto Takakura, a Notre Dame aeronautical engineering graduate, has also put his promising career on hold this summer and is heading to Kozhikode to evaluate and help upgrade the science curriculum.
Here is our Volunteer Coordinator, Mike Joseph, with Patti & Nash Jenkins, a mother and son duo who will be going to Hassan to teach English and work on art projects with the girls. Nash applied for and received a travel
grant from his school, Lawrenceville School.
An experienced teacher, Brenda Marcoux, and another recent St. Mary graduate, Nikki LaGare, will team up at Chandur (the first volunteers to visit this location) to help upgrade English teaching, provide
in-service teacher workshops and prepare material for future volunteers.
