Greetings!
We'd like to introduce you to a brand new newsletter ~ The High School Advantage ~ . Our goal with these periodic newsletters is to help fulfill our mission to "inspire and equip" parents for successful home education. These will be sent in addtion to our regular Home Life News to all registered families in order to help prepare you for the years ahead. Even if you do not yet have high schoolers, we will help you know what's on the trail before you get into the woods!
This first newlsetter is titled The Big, Big World. This will actually be a series of newsletters providing you with information about resources you might not have heard about. Below, HomeLife's own counselor, Lynn Knowlton, tells about her daughter's experience with CollegePlus.
It is a big, big world out there. But your kids do not have to be left alone in it. With the right planning and good direction you can continue what you've started, protecting your children from the world and still providing them with a high quality education.
Please do not unsubsribe from this newsletter because you will not recieve others from HomeLife if you do so. And please feel free to share this information with friends and family. We will share a wide variety of topics and try to make you aware of new developments in the world of homeschooling high schoolers. We hope you enjoy and feel better prepared each and every day.
Sincerely, David Parkerson HomeLife Academy

College Plus!
CollegePlus! is a revolutionary Christian based distance learning program helping students earn their fully accredited bachelor's degree in a fraction of the time and cost of the traditional university system.
|
I remember, by Lynn Knowlton. I remember when my children were young and we were just beginning our homeschooling adventure; people would ask questions like, "What will you do about high school and how will they be able to go to college?" I would teasingly reply, "Oh, by then they will probably be able to homeschool through college". Little did I know, that would become a reality. An organization called CollegePlus! has made it possible for high school students to combine college with high school and earn a fully accredited bachelors degree. Many complete their degree by the time they graduate from High School.
Many incredible opportunities have become available that have made achieving higher education from home a reality! More and more Colleges and Universities are beginning to offer online courses. Not only that, but organizations such as CollegePlus! have been created to guide you through the process.
Homeschool kids all over the country are now earning their college degrees from home at a fraction of the cost of a traditional college! Talk about thinking outside the box! If you think your friends and family gave you strange looks when you told them you were homeschooling K-12, you haven't seen anything yet! The well-known question "How will you teach them through high school?" and "What do you do about classes such as Chemistry?" now seems so archaic. Today's educational opportunities are quickly changing offering more options for students who wish to get out of the traditional education box. It was a little over a year ago when our family took this big step of faith toward this new and unfamiliar journey. Up to this point, my daughter had been looking at various options but was not interested in attending a state university and a private school was so expensive. Moreover, she did not feel the Lord calling her to be a 'career' woman, so going into debt to get an education at a private college made no sense. After some extended research, CollegePlus! seemed to be the perfect fit for her. We enrolled her in the program during summer of last year and since then, with the guidance of her assigned coach, she has earned 76 college credit hours. We have been very pleased.
For more information about CollegePlus!, you can visit their website atwww.collegeplus.org. Moreover, because this path is not an easy one, there are certain skills necessary to be prepared for such a program. However, parents can begin cultivating these skills as early as middle school. For guidance concerning how this program works with HLA and how you can begin to prepare your student's now, contact Lynn Knowlton.
