Direct care workers, employers, and other advocates are gathered in Washington, D.C. today to tell their elected representatives to grant home care workers the right to minimum wage and overtime protections. Meanwhile, advocates around the nation are contacting district representatives in their own states.
But
you don't have to leave home to join the National Day of Action. Just take five minutes sometime today to contact your members of Congress.
To reach your representatives in the House,
email them or call (202) 224-3121 and ask the operator to connect you to their offices. To reach your senators, use the "Find your Senator" drop-down menu at the top of the page at
Senate.gov.
Tell them your name and address and explain that you want them to support
the Department of Labor's proposed rule to extend Fair Labor Standards Act protections to home care workers. Also ask them to support or sponsor
the Direct Care Job Quality Improvement Act, which would achieve the same goal through Congressional action.
Don't miss this opportunity to make your voice heard!
The National Day of Action is being organized by the Direct Care Alliance in partnership with Bend the Arc: A Jewish Partnership for Justice and the National Domestic Workers Alliance.
