Greetings!
Fall has brought many new opportunities and wondrous events to our "GWIS family"-
from a new research grant for our new Membership Secretary, to a new NIH post-doc
position for our former Membership Secretary, to a beautiful new daughter to our
Corresponding Secretary, and new students in classes of our GWIS faculty members.
The GWIS organization has also received a new opportunity-we
have been asked to participate in the Inaugural USA Science and Engineering Festival,
the largest celebration of science and engineering in the United States, which
will be held in Washington, D.C. for two weeks in the Fall of 2010. The culmination of the Festival will be an expo on the National Mall that will give over 500 scientific organizations
the opportunity to present a hands-on, fun science activity to inspire the next
generation of scientists and engineers.
We have a chapter (Omicron) in D.C. and numerous National Leaders who
would be willing to travel to D.C. to assist the local chapter. This is an
exciting opportunity-one that we all will look forward to attending. If you
would like to join us and would like to be on the e-mail group to receive
continuous updates, let me know at gwised@mac.com.
Hope to see you there!
United in Friendship through Science,
Dee McManus National Executive Director
