Simplicity: Less Is More
How can less be more? When we live a simpler life where less is more,
we create a spaciousness and clarity that allow for balance,
relationship, peace, harmony and contentment to arise organically in
our lives. In a sense we prepare the spoil in which we grow and nourish
our soul so the essence of our being and relationships, human and
spiritual, can emerge and express itself freely. In the words of
Professor Ludwig Wittgenstein, "The aspects of things that are most
important to us are hidden because of their simplicity and fami liarity."
Living
simply leads to a renewed and fresh 'felt experience' of love and grace
that remains elusive in busy, stuffy and cluttered environments.
There, we are preoccupied with doing and having. How do we ever
discover our 'being' in this noise and hectic that drown out the often
quiet voices of our essence? It's simple-not simplistic and not
necessarily easy though: Let's shift from DO and HAVE to BEing out of
which the DOing arises that will lead to certain HAVEs. In turn,
whatever we HAVE and DO informs and enriches our BEing authentically
and with integrity.
How simple is your life? I mean all
aspects of your life; your personal and professional life, which
entails all physical, emotional, mental, relational and spiritual
aspects of your being. Let's say, on a scale from 1-10, with 10 being
absolutely simple, what number will you assign your way of living and
being right now? READ ON. |

Choosing Simplicity
Are you interested in simplifying your life? What choices are you making that benefit not only you but your environment at large? Are you looking for inspiration and support in your endeavour to live more simply perhaps? Then read on, check out the links below and the various suggestions provided here and, more extensively, on my website.
As the beautiful shaker tune "Tis a gift to be simple"
suggests, simplicity offers us special and precious opportunities. It
appears that the notion of a simple life has been considered desirable
for centuries as attested to by songs, video (check out this inspirational video to a song by Enya), writings, sayings
and lived experiences. Some individuals live the extremes of
simplification but those are not the examples I wish to discuss or
highlight.
My emphasis lies within the realm of 'Discovering the Extra
in the Ordinary.' That means we need to focus on how we can create
increasing simplicity in our daily lives. To me, that's what the touch
of genius suggests, which I know we all possess. Remember that the "simplest things are often the truest," to quote Richard Bach.
As mentioned above, visit my website for more information as well as a collection of quotations that have become meaningful to me. If you have others, which you wish to share, I invite you to post them on Martina's Musings or on my Facebook page, or email them to me. I have also provided a few references to books-only a few
out of a substantial selection.

What value do you see in creating greater simplicity in your life? How may living more simply nurture and enrich the very virtues that feel important to you?
I very much look forward to hearing your
stories and experiences. I invite you to share them with me and on Martina's Musings. There you can post shorter items on your touch of genius through which you bring greater spaciousness, harmony and peace into your life where you discover the Extra in the Ordinary.

Mini-Retreats & Intensives

Mini-Retreats take place at Martina's Mews in Kitchener, Ontario, and offer
you a safe and sacred space in which to open up to a transformative process that can
unfold fully in its own time and rhythm. You have the luxury of
treating yourself to explorations and discoveries that take more time
than brief appointments. You receive my undivided attention and presence for however long you have scheduled your retreat - between ONE and THREE days.
You are in
charge of setting the agenda for your retreat, which we can revisit
often and revise as we go along. I will support you in attaining your
goals while I hold the space for you, set and maintain safe and healthy
boundaries, and listen to the silence between your words just as
intently and intensely as to your words.
When might you wish to arrange a Mini-Retreat?
A) A
mini-retreat might be ideal for you if you are looking to work on a
larger framework for your life, either personal or professional.
B) You might
prefer uninterrupted longer periods of time rather than one-hour
appointments to create the desired shifts in your life and find the
solutions you are seeking. C) You are from out of town, province or country and would prefer to work in person rather than over the phone.
D) You simply want to treat yourself well by looking after yourself and your needs in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere.
E) You desire an array of practical tools with which you can continue to help yourself after the retreat. Consult Mini-Retreats for more details. You may also wish to visit the Life Coaching pages for insight into One-to-One Coaching and the Small Group Coaching.
