Notes from the Prez:
On a serious note: I had a long discussion with Commander Scott Williams
of the Boulder County Sheriff's department in regards to cycling issues
that have been so widely publicized in Boulder over the past several
months. In a nutshell the Sheriff is reaching out to the cycling
community and working as a liaison to try and solve some of the
problems especially in regards to close in Mountain areas like
Jamestown, Left Hand Canyon, Olde Stage, and Lee Hill Roads.
The Boulder Cycling Club
has embraced the idea and we will have our own spokesman available to
present our concerns and ideas. A few of the ideas being discussed is
more signage and possible addition of bike lanes. Also, be aware that
enforcement of the laws of the road will continue by the sheriff's
department. As a club we believe in obeying the rules of the road
especially speed limits and stop sign/ red light stopping. Remember it
is over $100.00 ticket for rolling through a stop light or sign and you
will be given one if a police officer sees you do it. The club believes
in SAFETY FIRST! As our ride groups get bigger it becomes even more
important to not only obey the rules of the road but to be courteous
out there on the road.
The Sunrise Century and the Dusty Boot Century are both this weekend.
We have some club members heading up to Summit County for the Dusty
Boot so if your interested send me an email and we'll get you in touch
with each other.

Our rides do continue to draw more folks as the summer rolls on
and we'll be out again this Sunday for the Early Riser Ride. Meet at
Amante's at 7:00 am and leave by 7:30 am.This will be the last day of
the Tour so get there early and get psyched up one more time! Don will
be leading this week and has 2 routes selected one up into the hills
and one more flat so the group that assembles that morning can choose
which one they prefer. Tuesday and Thursday night rides continue and have been a blast
with the evening cooler temperatures and the fun after the ride
refreshments and camaraderie.
The Saturday morning
ride continues to be sponsored by our friends at Bicycle Village and is
always a great ride with the route changing weekly. Last week's ride

time and everyone enjoyed it. Ride meets at 9:15 am at Bicycle Village
