Are you going for the Gold?

          I really do love the Olympics. To me they're a microcosm of life. As ABC's Jim McKay used to say, "The thrill of victory ... and the agony of defeat."

I love to watch these premiere athletes at the pinnacle of their carriers going after their dreams. They've trained, disciplined themselves and sacrificed to get where they are. Now it's time to throw caution to the wind and just do it! (sorry Nike)

My question to you is, what is your next Gold Medal? What is your next dream, your next quest?

I can hear some of you saying, or maybe even laughing a bit, "I'm just looking forward to retiring and taking it easy." Maybe your saying, "You don't know my circumstances." "You don't know my physical limitations." You're right I don't. But I do know that if you're still here, God's not done with you yet.

          It's time to dust off the business plan you started, the walking shoes you stopped using and finish the book you started. Maybe your Gold medal is to make a phone call and repair a relationship. If you woke up this morning there is still time. As Yogi Berra said, "It ain't over till it's over".

          I especially love the stories of triumph over adversity that you hear about in the Olympics. We have all faced challenges in our quest for the gold haven't we. I would love to hear your story. Please write me and tell me about yourself or someone who inspired you.

Next week I'll tell you about one of the most inspiring people in my life. You will be surprised at who it is.
