"When your desires are different from your beliefs, you will always manifest what you believe."
Les Brown
Greetings!
I experienced an interesting revelation this week. Like everyone I was shocked and saddened by the news of Whitney Houston's death. Like most I always admired her musical talent and was mystified by some of the personal choices she made in her life.
Caroline and I watched a rebroadcast of her interview with Diane Sawyer where she tried to show her resolve by squinting her eyes and tightening her jaw while she proclaimed her will to live and not die. She admitted that she had been her own worst enemy.
She wanted to convince the world and herself that she had changed and was taking control of her life. I looked at Caroline and said, she doesn't believe a word of that. I think she wants to believe it but deep down there is a self-portrait that is telling her a different story. It's like Les Brown says in the quote above, we can wish and want as hard as we can but it is what we believe in our hearts that will be manifested in our lives.
Sunday I watched as Tiger Woods crashed and burned at Pebble Beach. Unfortunately for Tiger he was matched up with Phil Mickelson who was having a great day and went on to win the tournament. I remember thinking, Tiger is kind of going through a similar self portrait crisis. He hasn't won a major tournament in over two years since his big scandal. Tiger will probably be able to change his portrait to look like the golf champion he once was. But then again he may need to dig deeper to discover a new and better Tiger. One that see's being a champion a little differently.
Here is what I would like to leave with you. Don't mistake your desires and dreams for what you really believe. When you really believe something you cannot be dissuaded. You will know that you know that you know. If you have a deep desire that's on it's way to becoming a belief, feed it. Burn every reason why you want to believe it into the front of your mind. Test it for integrity and truth. Don't leave any doubt about it unresolved.
