The LIST is coming! The LIST is coming! On October 19, Hadley McGregor of The Locals Only Blog will publish the LIST of off-season specials. This is a HUGE undertaking (about 8 pages long!) and Hadley graciously updates it every 2 weeks. Thanks Hadley!
So the big hole/construction mess/whatever, in front of Tanger Midway Outlets is ... (drumroll please)... a bank. ?!? Hmph. A little disappointing cause let me tell you, the hole they dug was HUGE! (Thanks Donna P for the intel!)
We really are getting a Panera. It will be across from Starbucks and Pier 1 on Route 1 with 6000 sf, indoor and outdoor seating and a drive thru. They plan to break ground in the spring and hope to be open for the summer season (thanks Brittany D)
Jakes Wayback Burgers has opened in the old Candy Kitchen space between GIANT and QVC on Route 1. Rumor has it that not only are the burgers good, but the shakes and onion rings are amazing! Right next door is Wu's Kitchen, a Chinese-Japanese eat-in/take-out restaurant, which opened October 1.
Wilmington Avenue in Rehoboth continues to create and crush the restaurant trade. Romeo's closed, Salt Air has temporarily closed, and Mallory Square Fish House was closed for um... legal issues. As of this writing, the newly created Shorebreak Lodge, Cypress and Tuscan Grill are still going strong. Saladworks is NOT coming to the Shoppes at Camelot ... sigh.
Del Tech is offering day trips this fall to NYC, Lancaster (PA), Baltimore's Inner Harbor, New Hope (PA), the Kennedy Center in DC and more. Trips are sponsored by the Adult Plus+ program, but all ages are welcome.
A Buzz reader wrote and asked me for recommendations for places to have an awesome breakfast, so I would like to poll YOU, dear reader for your favorites! Email me here and I'll post the results next issue.
Tanger Outlets reports that they will soon be 100% occupied - and many downtown Rehoboth businesses are claiming that 2011 was their best year EVER.
Rehoboth meters are gone (after bringing in close to $2.6 million in revenue); the "no turn on red" signs are gone. Dogs are now welcome on the beach and the boardwalk (on leashes of course). Lewes meters are still in effect through October 14 and the 30 minute parking signage is enforced year round.
I always smile to myself when people ask me what we year-round beach inhabitants do in the fall. First, we eat out, A LOT! It's too cheap not too - all those restaurants want to keep the locals coming, so wait till the LIST comes out and you'll see. And do you see that calendar at the right? We shop, we festival, we concert, we race kayaks and canoes, we walk for good causes, and we dress up like no one's business! And when you're ready to live here year round I know a good real estate agent you can call...
Apologies for not getting this issue out sooner! I try to publish every 3 weeks, but it's been longer due to the fact I'm taking the Broker's Course and two days a week in class is kicking my a**! Thanks for your patience!
