India Gateway holds first pre-departure orientation
One of the goals of the India Gateway is to serve as a location for students from India to learn about Ohio State. On July 27, the India Gateway held its first pre-departure orientation, for students admitted to Ohio State for the autumn semester.
These orientations prepare students for life at the university before they even leave for Columbus, and students traveled from as far as New Delhi to attend. International admissions counselor Maria Bibler and Ratnesh Bhattacharya were on hand to answer questions from new undergraduate students and their parents, as well as new graduate students.
A panel of current Ohio State students and alumni from India discussed issues related to academic, cultural and social life in the United States, and shared their own experiences with the incoming students.
Alumnus Vikas Goel helped organize the orientation, and arranged for the event to be held in the Bombay Gymkhana. The orientation itself was supported by Ohio State's Undergraduate Admissions and First Year Experience.
