A public hearing via video conference will be held in Fort Nelson on September 25th. Anyone wishing to present to the Standing Finance Committee must register.

ZONING BYLAW 66 DRAFT- RESCINDED
Mayor Streeper advised Chamber members at the general meeting that the Northern Rockies Regional Council has Rescinded Zoning Bylaw 66 - Draft.
Council has asked staff to divide the Zoning Bylaw into manageable sections detailing all changes and will start the public hearing process over. Minutes of the Council meeting were not available at this time. To see past agendas and minutes go to: NRRM Filepro Site

The Chamber of Commerce is looking for members to sit on two committees:
Membership Committee: to look at how to continue to increase value to our members, promote our members and the chamber, provide corporate sponsorship opportunities with strong recognition and returns on investment.
Events Committee: to look at what the membership wants in terms of upcoming events, what has value to you and what is in the best interests of the Chamber and promoting our membership.

Fort Nelson's latest submissions to the BCUC opposing the FortisBC Ammalgamation and Common Rates Application can be viewed at our website www.fortnelsonchamber.com

10TH ANNUAL SUCCESSFUL YOU AWARDS
Nominations will take place between October 1, 2012 and November 30, 2012

2012 TARGETED SKILLS SHORTAGE PROGRAM
This program is being delivered to employers of Northeast BC who have less than a hundred employees.
This is an opportunity to receive funding to train employees who do not have a post-secondary education.
A variety of training may be funded like; Driver Training (Class 5, 1, 3 airbrakes), GODI, Picker operator training, OFA Level 1 or 3, Oil Field Safety Tickets, Crane Operator Training, Pipefitting training, Bookkeeping, Supervisor Skills Training, etc...
