job_fairsBC Job Fairs - Opportunity

The BC "Jobs Start Here" Job Fairs are part of Canada Starts Here: The BC Jobs Plan. As part of the Plan, a series of job fairs will take place in 29 different BC communities, connecting British Columbians who are looking for work with employers who are looking for qualified employees.

The Provincial Government is trying to identify employers in each community that may be interested in participating.  For more information on participating or identifying potential business participants please refer to this invitation package or contact Jordan Humphries at 604-646-3596.

databaseBC Investment Database - Opportunity

Also part of Canada Starts Here: The BC Jobs Plan, is a commitment by the Government to attract international investment and promote British Columbia as a safe and dynamic place to do business. To achieve this, a new online database has been designed with an inventory of investment opportunities aimed at international investors.

Having your opportunity included in this database would ensure its promotion on BC's official international marketing website and by economic development officers and investment representatives.

The Province is working to build content for the launch of this database and would like to hear from businesses around the province. To learn more about the database and its use, please contact the Province at OpportunitiesBC@gov.bc.ca.

labour_surveyBC Business Labour Survey - Input Needed

Supporting the economic viability of businesses, and protecting the individual rights of employees are paramount goals for healthy workplaces and competitive enterprises. With this in mind, the BC Chamber of Commerce and the Coalition of BC Businesses is surveying employers on BC labour law and employment standards.

We would very much appreciate input from Chamber members on this online questionnaire (5 minutes). Employer responses will be compared to the responses we receive from the various BC political parties.

Employment numbers in British Columbia dipped in July after slight gains in June, as full-time positions replaced losses of part-time positions. Full-time positions in BC increased by 9,600 from June 2012, and the decrease in total employment was entirely due to the loss of part-time employment.
